Default Replacement cap for GM Opti

Any new favorites pop up in the sea of conjecture? My coil socket is a little chipped, hoping dielectric grease will keep it sealed? Seems crazy to spend hundreds just for the cap?

I would not worry about it.

I've got the pump ready to go back on so I'm only looking at the lower pulley bolts to pull the opti.

I purchased a Standard Motor Products cap and rotor a couple of years back to put on one of my backup used optis. It seemed to be heavier duty than the factory cap and should do the job.

Had to edit prior post. I put in the wrong link.

Have you ever taken the pully off before?

I you haven't taken the balancer pulley off before, make sure to put anti-seize on the mating surfaces when reinstalling. It will make it much easier if it has to come off again in the future.

Have you? Apparently not. You don't have to pull the balancer.

Thanks for the testimonial, I can get Standard locally, some crazy prices out there, just about any amount you are willing to pay.

Just make sure you get the DR473 and not the DR473T. The "T" version is cheaper and uses aluminum contacts in the cap.

If you say so.

You do but it is not a balancer. If yours is running just loosen the bolts and soak it then start a few times. Or get under it and use a brass drift or a 1 by and tap and turn. Do not hit the outside of it. It will fall off 20 minutes after your arm does. locktight the cap and rotor anti the pully.
