Default A8/A6 Owners Paddle Shifting Poll

For A8 or A6 owners. How do you prefer to shift?

* Mostly let the transmission shift itself. I use paddles very little.

* Mix it up about 50/50. Sometime I use paddles other times I use Auto.

* Use the paddles most of the time and I only use auto occasionally.

* Auto shift for street and paddles for track work.

* Use paddles exclusively. Never use auto. (should have added this to the poll)

The A8 shifts perfectly by itself. Occasionally I'll used the paddles, but it's rare.

I don't like the paddle setup on my 2016. With my daughters Mini I liked the more intuitive system. With either paddle you pull back as you accelerate, push forward as you decelerate. In other words natural for your body's momentum. I don't even use the Vette's paddles at all.

I use my paddles to engage rev matching.

I couldn't vote, because I never drive in D. I use the paddles exclusively.

About the only time I use the manual mode is when I like to pop a downshift to get the noise. As far as shifting, I hate to say the A8 shifts faster and better than I do.

I like paddles for the simple reason the A8 goes into 7th and 8th gear to soon when in the auto mode.

I let the transmission do the shifting most of the time. About 80%. I do love the way it sounds when you downshift with the paddles.

I use M mode more and more. I really like controlling which gear I am in, but I don't miss using my left foot to do it. When in M mode, if coming to a stop I let the computer do the down shifts. Around corners I do the shifting.

I use the manual mode. I enjoying controlling the shifts and the rev matching when downshifting sounds amazing.... EARGASM

I use the paddles almost exclusively. They add fun to the driving experience, provide great exhaust sound and avoid the annoying AFM. Like driving with a manual but without the hassle of a clutch.

At first I used auto most of the time, but as time goes on I find myself using the paddles more and more. My car is one of these famous "warblers", and using the paddles I can keep the engine out of the "warble cruising range" of 1500 rpms. It stops that nasty noise in it's tracks.

Occasionally I use the paddles in street driving because I like the sound and it keeps me in practice for when I do track driving with the paddles.

No way would I use any paddle shifter at the strip. There is too much 'lag' time from hitting the paddles and the car actually shifting.

I may occasionally use the paddles, but when I mean business about getting a good slip, I let the car shift itself. None of us can shift faster than the computer.
