1967 Corvette barn find
Hey guys,
I have a lead on a "barn find" 1967 Corvette. I'm going in the morning to check it out, the guy is 81 and said it's covered by a bunch of junk so I have to fetch it out and has been sitting there for 30 years.
Anyway, what I wanted to know was how much to offer? I have no idea what condition it is in. I see on eBay and such fully restored ones go for up to $200k. Any guidance is appreciated. Thank you in advance.

Sounds exciting, but no one on the forum will know what you should offer if we don't know the condition either. So many variables. I would say $5K-$150K.
Once you see the car report back with pics, engine HP, accessories, original drivetrain or not, etc. Take pics underneath the car as well as many of them rust out from the bottom up. If the frame isn't too rusty, then the birdcage will likely be ok.
I always like the seller to give me a price first before I make an offer. You never know how low their expectation may be.
The prices you see on ebay are asking prices, not necessarily selling prices, big difference, and most of the restored cars you see in general had way more money spent on them than what they sell for. Reread last sentence until you believe it.
I would bring some cash if time is of the essence to at least leave a deposit so you can keep others away if its a good opportunity.
Good luck.

Whatever you could afford would be a good start for an offer

Anyway,
There are lots of variables as they say. if he has a 67 corvette in the first place he will most likely give you the most in site for now. welcome and good luck on the find.

Lead on a barn find.
Go look at it with a cash deposit. A few years ago I went to look at a supposedly 69 Mustang. When I arrived I found it to be a 67 Bb Fastback. This was right at the peak of the "Gone in 60 Seconds " craze. Very desirable car. You never know what you will find. Good luck.

A couple of items I found on one that sat since 1974
Hey, Mine sat garaged since 1974. Here is what was done to make it road worthy/safe. 32k original miles, again, sitting for 42 years.
Shocks, rotors, calipers, lines, pads, Ebrake, master cylinder, clutch, trans seals, fuel tank, radiator, overflow tank, heater core, hoses, clamps, battery, belts, tune up, tires, water pump, all fluids flushed and complete stainless steel exhaust. I had to locate 65 dated wheels/caps because it had 67 wheels to go along with the 67 big block hood the owner thought would look good back then, and it still does. Oh, and he also removed the seatbelts?...so you never know what to expect, but it runs nice. And bright blue original seatbelts are $$ and hard to find. I am going to put it on the forum for sale shortly in zip code 19073. Wish us both luck.
Good luck and treat the guy fairly because Karma is real.

With that, what did you find out on your exploration?

Tom, I don't see anything negative here. He asked for an opinion on a car he was considering for purchase but provided us with no information to help him out. After asking the question he didn't log back in to look at the answers. Lots of people here willing to help others out regardless of how long they've been on the Forum. They just need to help us help them. Not sure why questions are posed and then posters either don't log back in to view the answers or don't acknowledge them.

I don't know why the OP has not returned to post here, but it's not unreasonable to think one reason was the responses he received.
Given there's no useful posting going on now I'll close it. If the OP wants to revisit this he can PM to reopen or start a new conversation.
