Default C6Z06 vs. C7 Grand Sport

I drove my new C7 Grand Sport for 2 hours then hopped in my C6 Z and drove it for about 20 minutes. WOW. HUGE difference.

I've been a Corvette guy my entire life and have owned many Vettes from old to new and this might sound a bit harsh to some people but this Grand Sport makes my Z feel like a sloppy mess. Seriously, though, the advances in handling on this C7 Grand Sport are astonishing.

I can't speak for the base model C7 because I haven't driven one but if you're thinking about buying a C7 Grand Sport and are on the fence DO IT. You won't be disappointed.

Do you track your Corvettes? I'm curious how they compare on the track because that's where the Z is at home.

What year Z do you have? 08 and up came with some improvements, especially the steering.

I'm watching the new Grand Sport too, I just can't justify trading my C6 GS in yet. I have headers and a tune and mag ride, so many vettes and Camaros are surprised at red light "comparisons". On the track, I can run with most vettes with similar tires and brakes. But eventually, a newer model will be in my garage. And, it will probably be a version of the C7 GS....

The one they had at our local dealer was the one I would want, so cooool, but the $30,000 option list put it at $97,000 so I'm just a wee bit short
Gonna have to stick with mine which aint such a bad deal, I'm happy

Thanks. Good to hear. I have been seriously thinking about a new C7 GS and now that my C6 is leaking gasoline and the garage is stinking of raw fuel this might be the time to make a switch. Oh, and "Yes" I know that my VIN # on my C6 falls into the gasoline-leak arena. But it is so discouraging to me. AND any excuse for a new GS, no?

Exactly, its not a comparison at that point.

More street manners and comfort don't always translate to track evenly.

Like you Ive also got C6 GS coupe 6 speed manual with magnetic ride. Not that many of those around from what I've seen.

Still like the looks of the C6 more than the C7. The C7 GS is still pretty pricey right now, and still cant get all season tires. But I'm also too cramped in the C7 . . . 57 y.o. and 6'2 and 230lbs and I just don't fit well in the C7 like my very comfortable C6 GS. So no C7s for me.

But if I got a C7. it would be the GS. Great package and more than I would ever need. Good luck.

I'm guessing at some really slow speeds in a borrowed car.

It is NO competition on a track, period.

$97,000 for a Grand Sport? That's Z06 and even 911 territory. Crazy.

Chevrolet has an MSRP of $65,450. How could have paid $58K out the door? No options? Even with you getting the best deal possible, when tax, license, etc., etc., are added on, it's hard to believe getting one that cheap. That's less than a base coupe. JMHO

By the way, my local dealer also had one in the showroom with a 90K+ sticker price.
