Is most of the 1lt C7 2016 geared at 3.42? My vette is 3 weeks and it says on the sticker rear axel 3.42 and it is an automatic A8.
This is not a misprint like some are saying.

I am not sure it matters with being a 1LT or 2LT, but I have a '16 2LT with 3.42 gears. Maybe there is a difference?

All the manual transmission car's are 3.42 gears. C5,C6, C7, couldn't get any other rear gear ratio from GM.

Trim level (1LT, 2LT, 3LT) make no difference on rear gear ratio. As several have already replied, M7 gets 3.42. Auto trans depends on A6/A8 and Z51/non-Z51.

Mine is an automatic and it says on the sticker rear axel 3.42. Need to try an take a picture and show you my sticker. Vette only 3 weeks old. Called the Dealer in Frisco and he said if is on the Sticker then that is what it has, 3.42 rear axel. Was not ordered special that he knew of.

I did not order mine, purchased it off the lot and it says A8 automatic transmission and rear axel 3.42. They had to make some with 3.42.

I will wait and see what RPM come up with. I going to hate to pay almost 2700.00 for a stock m7 3:42 rear set up. That is all you can do at the moment. Are buy a set up all from a wreck m7 at what ever price.

I would like to see someone come out with some stronger that the stock stuff. Just for piece of mind if nothing more..

Will look at this and a small blower set up and some aftermarket axles over the winter. Hope for 600 to 650 RWHP and going to call it a day with the car...

I think you are misreading your window sticker. The standard equipment section will list the 3.42 rear axle. It will also list the 7 speed manual transmission. These are both "standard" equipment. However, if you get the A8, you do NOT get the 3.42 rear gear.

Look at your RPO sticker (located under the rear carpet near the battery). You'll find one of the following codes:

GU2 - Rear axle, 2.73 ratio
GXB - Rear axle, 2.41 ratio

You won't find the following code:
GU6 - Rear axle, 3.42 ratio

I believe you have an error in the chart under "gear Ratios" for Z51MN7 in third gear-chart has MN7 at 2.08 and the Z51MN7 at only 1.43-probably should be 2.43.

Hmm, have not heard that occurred! Also look at the 1st gear ratio in the A8 and consider the increased initial torque from the torque converter! Except with a very sticky set of slicks at a drag strip with rubber laid down can't believe that lower gear will be of much help with 60 foot times!

The base non Z51(that he as listed as MN7) numbers are for the most part, all screwed up. All the manual transmissions used in Corvettes have a 1:1 4th gear.

His non Z51 A8 numbers are also screwed up. They are the same ratios as the Z51 A8.

Joe, I believe you have them wrong too (your second gear). The TR-6070 Gear Ratios are as follows (from SuperChevy article on transmission):



The MEP RPO Code is the non-Z51 version and the MEL RPO Code is the Z51 version.

Yes, I had the non-Z51 ratios goofed up for third and fourth gears (they were copies of the Z51A8 column). The final gear ratios are correct as initially posted. Joe is correct - I had the non-Z51 A8 ratios messed up. I originally had 2 separate charts - one with the M7 and A6 and one with the M7 and A8. I messed up when I combined them.
