She lives again!
Thanks to AHP for another great head job!
To anyone thinking of rebuilding their heads and doing the job yourself, it's really easy! Took me about 5 hours total to disassemble and 7 hours to put it all back together. No fancy tools needed. I'm running a procharger so a few more brackets to install.
I have zero sewing machine noise now! I got rid of the comp trunions (which were well worn) and went with the Straub kit. Replaced the lifters while I was in there.
Thanks to all who posted great threads here on how to do the job!

I think I am an average backyard mechanic. I did all the work in a small garage with floor jacks and regular tooling.
Thanks for the kind words.

Melting Slicks
That's great. I think that is about the same amount of time I had when I did mine. A couple of areas can be difficult and the right wrench is helpful. I know on mine the power steering reservoir alternator bracket was a lot of fun. I was able to pull my heads off with the ARP head studs still on.

Thanks, I keep thinking I may do mine when my warranty runs out if they don't need to be done before then. Your thread makes me feel more confident that I might, although the last complete rebuild I did has been 30 years ago, wow can't even believe that! Have been doing brakes, water pumps, radiator replaces, etc. but no engine rebuilds.

It's very straight forward. The power steering is a pain but not bad if you take your time and understand what needs to come apart.
I used blue painters tape to label everything and lots of zip lock bags!

I did mine outside, and it was a easy process

Great job doing the swap yourself.
