C6 to C7 or wait for C8?
Have a 12 year old C6 Lemans Blue with 9000 miles(virtually mint) and obviously not my daily driver plus the fact do a lot of travelling but have been looking now at the C7 GS and after a few years have finally got round to now(finally) loving the rear, but it took me a while.....Now having ankle problems so shifting the gears is getting painful plus leaving her in reverse overnight is hardly 2017...............and although I love this car, believe its time to move on..................
Anyway, heard that the C8 might be coming out soon. Is this true? Some good deals at present so wondered what to do?
Best. Bran.

Why not wait for the C9? It's sure to be the best one yet with substantial improvements over the C8.
Get a C7 now. You'll like it. Life is not guaranteed beyond today. Just sayin'...

I'd wait.
Had I done my homework, I might have waited too but not likely, I had to satisfy the itch.
The idea of the C8 with all of it's proposed significant changes would have given me pause from getting the C7 Z06 of course if those changes don't materialize or it's delayed, then I'd have been mad at myself whereas now, I'll be elated!

How long can you wait? I have no idea when the C8 will be out, but many/most think it's a '21 model. Could it be '18? Maybe but not many say it will be.

I'm thinking I might just as well wait for the C8. Have to delve into those significant changes, as they're announced.

There will ALWAYS be something newer, better, etc. coming... You can spend years waiting, or years enjoying. I say get the car you want RIGHT NOW. Who knows when the C8 will be here, then you'll say, well maybe I should wait for the second year, or some other model or feature that may be coming, etc. Life is short, don't spend too much time waiting.

I agree with the sentiment that tomorrow is not guaranteed. HOWEVER, we're a week into December, and the North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) is about a month away. This is typically where the Big Three make their big announcements about upcoming products. Between the holidays and the upcoming auto show, I certainly don't think there's any harm in waiting through the end of NAIAS before making your decision. At the end of the auto show, we'll only be halfway through the 2017 production model year, and a perfect time to place an order for a 17 if you so choose. Or, if a groundbreaking C8 is announced for 2018, then you know you have that to look forward to. Either way, a new Corvette is in your near future, so I think you can't lose!
Having owned two C6 brand new, I know how much fun your LMB 05 or 06 is, and how much fun it is taking delivery of a brand new Corvette! If you haven't done so previously, I would highly recommend the R8C delivery option, and take the factory tour while you're there. It makes for a wonderful experience!
Good luck!!

It's pretty well understood that in 2017, the C7 ZR1 will be announced for MY 2018. IMHO, I don't see any mid-engine GM car coming out in 2017, especially if the mid-engine car is a Corvette. The earliest it will be announced is January of 2018 as a MY 2019 and I think that is optimistic. I'd bet development delays push it out to at least 2019, released as a MY 2020.
I'd recommend buying now and enjoy the C7.

Yes, just keep waiting. Maybe the C9 will be even better.
On the other hand, I prefer to live my life according to the "life is too short" philosophy, and there may not be a tomorrow.
EDIT: I should by now to read above before posting. ExRedRacer and I obviously are on the same wavelength.

If you have to ask about buying a C7 then you answered your own question.

It's good to see you here, branmin! It's been awhile since I've seen you on the forum.
As you may remember, you and I got our new 2005 C6s at roughly the same time. After 10 years and 34,000 miles, I finally caved in and ordered a new Z51 coupe. After 2 1/2 years with my 2015, I will say without reservation that this car blows away the 2005 in every possible way. Here are just a few examples:

After 2 1/2 years with my 2015, I will say without reservation that this car blows away the 2005 in every possible way. Here are just a few examples:
- Though looks are subjective, the C7 makes the C6 look old and dated IMO. The C7 is edgier and very European-looking (in a positive sense).
- The C7's interior is light years ahead of the C6's in terms of design, materials quality, and fit / finish. My "lowly" 2LT interior puts the C6's 4LT to shame IMO.
- The C7's audio system actually sounds very good (especially the 2LT / 3LT version).
- C7's navigation system, HUD, seats (heated and ventilated) are all much superior to those of the C6.
- The power train is killer! Mine is a mere Z51 (as opposed to a Z06) but its 460 hp and 7-speed manual are very different from the 400 hp and 6-speed manual in my 2005. This thing is a rocket.
- The C7 has a totally different tactile feel vs. the C6. I'm convinced that a big part of it is the electrically assisted power steering. Not only does it feel great, its feel can be adjusted to three different settings.
- The external lighting rocks. The headlights are xenons, everything else is LED. They have to be seen in person to be appreciated.

You do realize the average Corvette generation runs 7-8 years. The C6 ran even longer, from 05-13. Just keep waiting, and hopefully you won't be dead yet . . .
