Hello Everybody,
I think I along with more than likely many of you love your C7 corvette. Incredible handling, much improved interior, finally good steering feel, killer looks, etc. A8 trans is great. I love my car overall, many more pluses than anything else. Only slight irritation is some overheating issues when taking her out to HPDE. Now don't you guys get annoyed about the talk about overheating? Well no car is perfect no matter what it is. I see many journalists are Porsche fanboys. Yes I used to be one of them. People, especially journalists like to harp about the Porsches being super reliable, never overheat, yada yada. Well, what about the PDK trannies overheating at the track, sound familiar. What about the IMS issues. What about the GT3 issues such as catching on fire, overheating, etc. Many other high end sports cars that have various issues, BMW M3 Vanos issues, Nissan GT-R overheating tranny. Well I feel better. What do you guys think? Ger.

What's the point. All have their issues. I own a Porsche also and if maintained will give back what you put into it, just like the vette. Yes vette is less needy but I get just as much grin in my 911 as the vette

Go Canes!
All cars have thier issues. I feel the performance and looks of the C7 can't be beat by one of those over modified Beetles.

I understand what you mean. A lot of people underestimate the build quality of the C7 Corvette, because of past generation corvettes were really terrible in a lot of ways , the word plastic comes to mind. Paint quality is not up to standard if I had to pick a flaw. Other than that great build
My Porsche 997 CarreraS , with low miles, leaked oil, and smoked if I let it sit for more than 2 weeks at a time. The driver door handle broke (plastic), a common problem with these cars. And some other quirks.
Point is none are perfect, they are all machines , they all have flaws and break.
I guarantee it. even Ferrari and Porsche

Comparing Corvette to Porsche, when I think of a new Corvette, I get excited. The thought of a white GS Vette, red interior, A8 working and paddling perfectly fills me with a lust to drive, even if I have nowhere to go.
I want to get up at 3:30 am, have a cup of coffee, and just drive where there are no cars, experiencing the mag ride on differing terrain, the wide tires, the brakes, a race car for the road.
Porsche doesn't do that for me. I can't escape the feeling I overpaid, I'm not getting enough for the money.

Problems and issues are expected. What is not expected is the manufacturer to ignore them and do nothing about fixing issues such as these in a timely manner under warranty. This is what's wrong with GM and the C7.

I actually bailed on Porsche based on my one experience. I realize this is not logical, as overall they have a great record, but that's hard to stay loyal when you have to replace a whole engine on a 911 (2003) due to oil consumption, the clutch, and a few other repairs. I bailed after both front radiators started leaking coolant to the tune of $3000. (So I really do identify with those that have had problems with their C7s, even though my experience has been great)

Porsches aren't perfect, but they're pretty damn good. I'm attracted to the Corvette, but when I look at all the problems on the forum, and GMs poor response, it's scared me away. You just don't see nearly as many problem threads on the Porsche forum. And now is the time when someone will say "yeah, but look at how much less the Corvette costs.......!". Well, they cost plenty, and they shouldn't have all the problems they have. Will I ever get one? Not sure yet. But if I pay 75,000 and have orange peel paint, an AT that doesn't work right, and a center armrest that gets a permanent indentation, I'm gonna be p.o.'d.

Keep in mind that are many more C7 owners not posting in online forums and most are happy with their cars and do not have complaints. I am not saying that the cars are perfect but people like a lot of us here sometime nit pick things more than usual.

I realize there are lots of problems posted here, but I think that's the same on every forum I have ever seen, from cars to iPhones. Pretty rare to start a thread with "Nothing wrong with my . . .."

Not another Porsche bashing post when they are to different cars with distinct personalities. Owning a Porsche gives me the opportunity to go to their events and they are just as passionate about their cars as C7 owners. Why is it always about the cost and bang for the buck, who cares if you can afford it and like me want a change after 45 years of owning Corvettes. Does all this track time and HP race have meaning or for me it is the enjoyment and pleasure of driving and caring for each car in its own and distinct way.

I've owned 7 Porsches (5 911s, a Boxster and Panamera) and 5 Corvettes (2 C4, C5 Z06, C6 and C7) and they are all great cars.
I've had problems with all of them. Non terribly serious. Others (as noted in this thread) have had serious issues, with both brands.
You can argue cost/performance, or which is faster on the track, but my track days are behind me and, well, I think what I own now pretty-much expresses my opinion.
