Default Wheel locks on 2017 GS

I have been a member here since i bought my C2 back in 2012.
I always love this sight.
I am just going through the process of buying 2017 GS convert.
I am buying the Sterling Blue. I will get it tomorrow.
I have to say i am not real happy with process , part of it is
me. ( stress i created for myself choosing colors equipment and
Convert or Coupe). The changing deals over past to weeks did not help.
I checked in with top 4 or 5 dealers.
Kerbek ...fast and direct, but best deals or on the 9 or 10 cars
they choose for their advertisement.
Maculkin seemed best, but best deal again on a cars in inventory and
changed drastically from one day to next.

Criswell , Mike Furman...never called me back....

I am dealing with number 4 on list Bomnin in Miami , as he is 42 miles away..
I saw all deals changing and car ended up costing me 1500 more
because we did not close deal before dec 5 th...
I was pissed because they had car on lot , and i would have closed the deal
if i knew this....they say nothing they can do.( they did not know car
arrived, so they say)
As i saw all deals changing , and felt i could not do better
i went and closed ,paying the extra money. I said i would walk away
that it was it was a deal breaker, but after doing all this work
i buckled and said give me the car....
Then what just pissed me off is that they now want to charge me
299.00 dollars for wheel locks!!!!!
I can understand everything but this.
Is this true ? do all dealers do this ? or is just Bomnin Chevrolet.
i am getting about 11,000 off msrp that includes my loyalty
and i joined the Farm Bureau...65.00 anyone can join to get 500 off.
2017 Sterling Blue , light gray interior , 2LT and MSRP was
just under 80K.....
Hope I have not broken any rules...needed to vent.
regard...

tell them keep the wheel locks it is just profit for them they use mcgard wheel locks. I bought mine for Criswell not mike furman and was a a lousy buying experience but a great price. They included the wheel locks. Mcgard locks cost like 40 dollars at most. I did get the usual documentation fees though( OTOH they reimbursed me for my plane flight to pick up the car so we were even on that score)

no need for locks, if they want your wheels, they will get them. plus my insurance will cover loss with no depreciation, and my ded is less than 1 tire, so I am good. but locks should be 40-100 bucks at most

Congratulations on your new GS ! Sounds great.

Buy the wheel locks on Amazon $23.45 for a set of McGard's. Or if you prefer Gorilla, they have them too.

Mine came with locks pre installed by the dealer. No charge was ever mentioned.

Bomnin is a con artist! I tried buying a car out of state from them a few years back and the price kept changing by the hour. Call Les Stanford in Michigan you won't be sorry and he has every color and option in stock. PM me if needed.

i was curious about Les Stanford, but his advertised discounts
looked like about half of what the top 4 dealers were offering.
I imagine the deals changes up and down every week...
I am to old to shop this any longer... need to put this to rest.
thx

I looked at Bomnin before and the prices were good but they had an $800 dealer fee that they wouldn't remove.

Yes, they don't show their best prices on their web site. You have to call and negotiate but their advertised prices would chase someone away. They don't really promote forum members to call for best prices like other forum dealers do.

Good luck with the new car! I bought mine on Saturday from Kerbeck I drove my car in and drove a new car out. We did spent all day there but that was our fault much like you we couldn't make up our minds about color and striping.
Being down south I'm sure you will get to enjoy yours much more then I at least for a few months!

they did have a few interesting deals, but i would have eaten most if
not all of extra savings in going to get it and driving back, or even shipping it.
I was however thinking of flying in, and driving to washington dc, were
i would have take auto train to Orlando, and then drive another
230 miles to get home.. even checked out the train on utube.
It looked docile enough.
ENJOY YOUR CAR!!!!! Looks GREAT!!!!

Unless GM has come up with a new device, wheel locks are easily defeated. Ebay has a universal wheel lock remover for around $20. Another forum member posted it on these forums a couple months ago. Wheel locks are only effective with amateurs who have an impulse to steal the wheels. The pros and educated amateurs will have no problem stealing the wheels. Wish I could say differently.

Florida allows dealers to charge a "Dealer Fee" The only difference is how much they want to charge...from $499 to $999 EVERY dealer does and it is nothing more than PURE PROFIT. When the C7 first came out and every dealer in Florida was charging MSRP they STILL charged a Dealer Fee....The ONLY time it is waved is if it is Employee Pricing or RETIRED MILITARY.

Two weeks ago I purchased two vehicles a C7 and a RAM 2500. The C7 for me and the RAM for the wife. She needed the RAM to pull her horse trailer (the 1500 did not have enough capacity). I hate buying cars.

On the RAM -- we had a new sales guy. We had the 1500 as a trade. The first offer was $850 per month. Car dealers -- when can they get it through there thick sculls that is not how an informed buyer buys. How much for the truck -- what are you giving me for the trade. Once you settle then you go to the TO man (ie the business manager), who tries to sell you on every type of protection plan in the business. Then the financing 4.9% for 72 months.. Come on my Credit is over 850. OK -- got you 2.7% at 60 months at Capital One. I say "Suntrust is 2.01%"-- OK let me send it to them for a quote... 2 minutes later comment "maybe I should hire you." It has not changed in 40 years since buying my first new car. 6 hours of PAIN.

Now the C7 -- went to Roger Dean in West Palm-- not the best selection they had 10 17's and 2-2016's. I went for the 16 because of the price and it has everything i wanted. They gave me a fare price on the C7 trade (about 2K above KBB) - I know it is factored in the deal. The closing was easy in under an hour. Said no once to their extras' and that was it -- no pressure. They even helped me cash out my GMPP (I did not buy it from them either) and put it towards a tire protection plan. Spent 10 minutes after all was done being thanked by Mrs. Dean the owner. That is the difference in a buying experience.
