Bendpak HD-9 Installed
There have been a lot of discussions lately about lift selection. I did a good deal of research before landing on the Bendpak HD-9 for parking and light work on my cars. So far I am pleased with it. The install was handled by a local distributor who did an EXCELLENT job.
In the first photo you can see the lift is not bolted to the floor. I'm fortunate in that my garage has a vaulted ceiling and I can take advantage by using the lift to max rise even with the door open. (Goes high enough to park my GMC Sierra Z-71 underneath.) What became apparent quickly is that the floor needs to be extremely flat, which mine is not. We shimmed and anchored the posts plumb after one trip to max rise, as we were getting too much daylight under the inside of the platens for my comfort.
The white thing in the pictures is a Mustang, for those who haven't noticed one before.

I have the same lift. You are really going to like using it. I added aluminum ramps instead of the steel ramps. My back thanks me every time I use them. Good luck. Jerry

Turn 12!
I have the same lift but with the removable aluminium ramps. Great buy!

I've been looking at the Bendpak lifts too. Who has the best deal on them and are you guys installing them yourselves?
Thanks,
Rex

Talk to the guys at Garage Enthusiasts, they offer a Forum discount.
I'm putting my own up. I read the manual, doesn't sound too difficult (with a little help). I figure if I can build a Vette frame up engine and all , I can bolt a lift together.

Ordered my Back Yard Buddy with the race ramps composite ramps.
I thought the aluminum ramps were light as compared to the steel. These race ramps don't weigh two pounds I'll bet. And with a bad back the lighter the better. Just another option out there.

I have a set of Race Ramps for service work and I think they are excellent, I was debating getting the proper RR for the Bendpak or having our welding supplier make me some out of aluminum.

I ended up using my engine hoist and a LOT of muscle (which I don't have much of..) and finesse to turn them over....

Both Rotary and BendPak are excellent lifts, have used both commercially over the years with zero issues.

I looked at the BendPak 2 post lifts when I purchased my Rotary lift a few years back. My research led me to limit my search for only ALI Gold Certified lifts. I figured if I was going to be underneath this thing with my cars on it, I don't want to be thinking about whether this is the day my Chinese steel lift takes me out. I don't recall whether the BendPak is certified or not but I do remember the Rotary was less expensive.....and made in America!
and, yes, the Bendpak is expensive

I looked , Rotary was way more expensive by almost $1000 and it was only 7000 lbs. The Bendpak is certified also.
Bill- Thanks for the pics ! I didn't know the runways came upside down. Something to watch out for. I have an engine hoist also and see it may come in handy. I am just afraid it is going to show up on one of the bitter cold days we got coming. Western Pa. weather can suck. Like you , I am planning on using my car trailer to haul it home.
Oh yea, For those of you thinking about buying a lift. Free ? shipping to a business, so I hit up my friendly local beer distributor and he has a fork truck to unload it for me. Helps that I have been buying beer there for a looooong time !

I am thinking of setting the bundle on a couple pallets then backing the trailer in the garage and using the gantry to lift off the trailer ?? I'm assuming the small stuff will be on top?
