Default Fuel pressure regulator diaphragm positioning...

Installing a new fuel pressure regulator on a mostly stock '86 and it's already off the car. There's the regulator/diaphragm itself, the cap, and a ring with part number RP80182 on it. The ring has a lip on it, and just like to be sure if the lip faces up or down...and also, does the ring go between both gasket pieces of the diaprhagm? Thank you.

the inside edge of the ring is beveled to somewhat match the radius on the regulator's cap. it should be installed with the "lip" in the up position as shown. it does not go between the rubber gasket pieces of the diaphragm. here's a pic of how it should be assembled -

Thanks for the heads-up. My replacement seems polished, though not quite as much as the original. Any other indicators? Thanks again!

Thanks for the info and pic! Just to be clear, from the base up, it should go diapraghm (both layers) ring with lip up, and then cap. Is that correct? Again, thank you!

from the base, diaphragm (both layers), then the cap, and finally, the ring (lip up).
