Use of term Vert
Hope this doesn't awaken the trolls. Just curious most of us use Vette as a shortcut for Corvette however,I note some using the term Vert. Just wondering. Thanks

Vert is the term for convertible as opposed to a coupe.

All convertibles, regardless of make, are often referred to as "vert."

As we are on the subject, when did Corvette ragtops officially stop being "roadsters" and start being "convertibles?" The old literature definitely called them roadsters.

I don't know when they officially stopped being roadsters but my guess would be when they went from the C2 to the C3 model. Maybe someone else knows for sure.

I think the main difference is not the roll-up window. It's a two-seater vs. more than two seats.
All roadsters are convertibles, but not all convertibles are roadsters.
eta: Corvette convertibles are technically still roadsters.

I thought a roadster was any two seat ragtop, but it's an old school term that fell out of use at some point. Im fairly sure even GM brochures called the ragtop Vette a roadster up to a certain date. I'm thinking it was 67 maybe. Anyone know?
