so, azzume you are sending FOUR tires, and if so, would tape two tires together and thus have two shipments - depends on where you ship from and to, but probably a minimum of $200 no matter who you use to ship

Taping the tires togethet isn't likely to save you money. Shipments are based on the greater of actual or dimensional weight, how quickl you need to get it there, and possibly distance. Your best bet is to drop them off at a FedEx facility and ship them ground.

UPS and FedEx both apply an additional handling charge to any unusually shaped or oversize package. Tires get hit with that charge since they are round and not rectangular.
Here is the description that UPS provides.
Additional Handling
An Additional Handling charge may be applied to the following:
Any article that is encased in an outside shipping container made of metal or wood.
Any item, such as a barrel, drum, pail or tire, that is not fully encased in a corrugated cardboard shipping container.
Any package with the longest side exceeding 60 inches or its second longest side exceeding 30 inches.
Any package with an actual weight greater than 70 pounds.
When you are using a shipping company's web sites to calculate time and cost of a shipment you will have a cost surprise when you go to drop off your shipment if you don't click the Additional Handling button. When you ship FedEx you need to click on the Special Services option and select Non Standard Packaging.
I just did a sample shipment for two front tires banded together from NC to NY and UPS came to $108 while FedEx came to $88. Both UPS and FedEx additional handling charges were $10.50. If I had did an estimate with the two tires shipped separately the UPS charge would be $113 and the FedEx charge would be $95.
So obviously FedEx is a little cheaper for that sample shipment and banding the two tires together saves some money.

The words cheap and tires rarely occur in the same sentence when talking about the Z06.
But, to answer your question directly. My local UPS store has been very reasonable on all the tires that I have shipped. All they do is tape a label on each one and roll right on.

There is no reason to guess which is cheaper. If you go to any of their websites, you can enter all the data and know the price each carrier will charge. All you need are weights, dimensions and zip codes. It's really easy.

I have used these guys in the past with substantial discounts from the normal Fedex/UPS quotes for large/heavy items, including tires/wheels:
