Finalist 2020 C7 of the Year -- Unmodified

Default Sorry to ask, but 2017 A8 owners-how's your A8 working? Thanks...

I am dealing to buy a NEW 2017 A8 GS TR Vert and have kept my A6 2014 because of some problems with 2015-2016 A8 trannys. 2017 owners could you please tell me if you are having problems with your A8'S or are the problems finally fixed by GM. The only thing holding me back is some owners negativity about their 2015-2016 A8 trannys. Thanks 2017 A8 owners for chiming in.

I drive with the paddles only, it has only seen auto on the way home from buying it. I will say this, clunky, harsh shifts when it's cold, and harsh down shifts no matter what temp the trans is at. My next one will be a m7 only!!

Perfectly! Change of pace for us, the other C7s are M7s. Impressive performance(at least until I put it into storage this past October).

late 2016 A8. 5,000 miles and flawless so far. Was a little rough in the beginning but smoothed out after a while when it learned my driving style.

I'm in the same boat as the OP, on the verge of buying, worried about the tranny
Thinking about waiting to see if the 2018 will have the A10
When will we find out, is this announced in the spring?

If they can't get 8 speeds right what do you think about a 10 speed transmission.

I thought it was a pretty simple question
When do they historically release the specs on next years models?
Please don't tell me to get an M7, health problems prevent it

The spring bash (April) is usually when details emerge on upgrades, changes, new colors, etc. for the upcoming model year. However, everyone is expecting that the 2018 ZR1/Zora/Z06X Track edition, or whatever the camo covered test mule sighted over the past six months will be announced at the Detroit auto show in January. If that car has the new A10, I would expect the Z06 and maybe the GS and Stingrays to have it in 2018. However per one of the earlier threads on the A10, it was reported that the A10 won't fit in the Corvette as it does in the Camaro ZR1. I also read that the 2017 Camaro ZR1 was supposed to be the only GM car to have the new A10 exclusively for one year prior to the A10 being used in other GM vehicles.

I guess we should know more in January and then again in April. In the meantime, I'm still targeting an M7 2017 Z06. It makes the decision easier.

I'd go for the M7 if I could but botched up left leg prevents it
Thanks for the info

2500 miles since August and no problems with mine. Once in a great while, a little rough 1-2 shift when first taking off, but nothing otherwise.

My 11/15 built A8 has been flawless for almost 5700 miles, and it has been driven enthusiastically.

I know you asked about 2017's, but just for the record,my January 2016 build date Z51 A8 is performing flawlessly. I've put about 3.400 miles on it so far after buying it in mid-August.

I understand that there was some sort of revision upgrade to the system n November 2015.

I have had some issues with my 2017. When in auto and I accelerate quickly t0 70-80 mph, I have had 3 instances where it hangs in the higher gear and won't downshift. If I shift into paddle mode, that seems to get it to downshift. I took it in for an oil change and discussed with the Service Advisor. He said he thought it would smooth out but if I wanted to leave it, it would take a month for them to check it out. I told him I would wait until I had 10K and if it was still doing it, I'd bring it in and leave it. Currently have about 2800 miles on it.
