Default Differential options other than Tom's 12-bolt conversion?

I have done a lot of googling, searching this Forum, talking to folks, etc. It sounds like Tom at Tom's Differentials is soon shutting down and his parts are "no longer what they used to be" including no more billet pinion yokes and the spider gears going out now are no longer "the good ones".

SO, I am sitting here wondering why I would order the 12-bolt conversion kit now? Anybody have a used one they want to sell? (with the good old parts) Or, am I wrong and Tom's 12-bolt conversion stuff is still the same?

Or, are there new alternatives out there? I'm looking for bolt-in and I'm also looking for being able to buy the differential and axle kit from the same place.

Give Van Steel a call.

I'm pretty sure they can fix you up.

I was under the impression that the Vansteel 12-bolt diff is an assembly which uses Tom's Differentials parts.

How much power àre you putting to it and what kind of tires

I've been lucky with my 79 rear end. Billet main caps. Richmond gears. Tom's stage 7 posi. Custom hard ended yokes. Tom's outer axles with 10x28 slicks

Paul danna has kind of the same thing

I've had a great 434

At the race shop we had some ford 9 inch is conversion. But they were like 10,000 dollars

Joe is right about the Ridetech unit coming out. There is a new 12 bolt setup for sale in C3 parts right now. John is a long time member here and good guy. I would buy his if I was in the market.

I just went and looked at their website and could not find where they offer a bolt in 9" differential. Are you sure it's Ridetech and not a similar name?

Gary Ramedi (search GTR1999) still has the good older parts in stock for his 12 bolt builds. The good thing is he is not far away from you in Connecticut.

Detroit speed and engineering has an over the top rear, but it doesn't come cheap and it's a complete rear suspension.

Based on my recent experience to Tom's he still has more than you are giving him credit for. I have a brand new billet pinion yoke, axles, spiders, etc. all from Tom in the last 30 days. Maybe there was "better" stuff from him at one point, but all the stuff I purchased from him are hardened and are pretty good.

I spoke with Tom at the end of summer. He may be retiring but he was working on selling the business and parts to someone who was going to keep it going with the same business practice.

We do have a 9 inch IRS setup for the C2 and C3 cars it will be shipping in the next couple weeks. I will post the web page link soon.
I have been running this setup in the 48 hour car most of the year. Eric Flemmings car had it installed last week also.

Gary is still building Super 10 and 12 rears using Tom's parts. I have a Super 10 in the works with him right now.
All the parts came from Tom's Differentials.
It is true that Tom is winding down if you call 12hr workdays winding down.
The new spiders are fine as long as they get hardened. Same as the inner axles. Some people don't go the extra mile like Gary, so your results may vary.

Unfortunately, to get in touch with Gary you have to go to Digital Corvettes forum.

Or email him.

Waiting list is long though. Mine will not be ready until April but Gary is reliable when it comes to completion dates. Not like some others out there.

Best way to reach Tom is by email if you have questions. He does not like to talk on the phone unless it is to take a firm order. But he is dependable to answer any email. He and Gary have both been very helpful answering mine expeditiously.

Hi, thanks.
Bottom line is I am talking to Tom at Tom's Diffs right now about getting my parts list figured out. I'll order the parts and re-engage with Gary or somebody else who is good to get it all put together.
Thanks

Any Plans on making a Late C3 ( Batwing version) version of this set up ? How about C4 ?
