I hate when we customers get shafted like that. They think a "we are sorry" fixes the problem. For the one who don't do DIY get shafted ever harder, specially if the muffler shop has to put the old parts back in the Vette.

I had the same kind of problem with a Corsa axle-back on my CTS-V. Muffler shop chops the stock mufflers off, goes to install the slip on Corsas and they contact the subframe in multiple spots. Not even close to fitting. The shop welds some pipe and tips in place for a muffler delete just to get me by for a week. I wanted it installed 'right' and as Corsa intended so I could always go back to stock. Corsa sends out an 'adjuster kit' with more pipe saying 'oh, some cars have that issue'. Kit arrived a week later and still doesn't fix the problems. So the shop just fabbed some pipe to make it work. I thought I was getting a slip on finished product. Meanwhile I had to get a custom installed axle-back for double what the install should have cost me. Learned my lesson.

Let me first say that I am not affiliated with Borla but had bought Borla x-pipe and axle back from them before.

Its this time of the year where everyone is on time off. Email Borla a photo of the problem, serial number / mfg date off the label on the box, and your receipt and they will get it replaced no questions asked. They have excellent customer service. I once had an issue with a muffler that I bought online from one of their distributors so I emailed them the details. An hour later I received the an email from Borla apologizing for the issue and a confirmation that a new muffler will be shipped to my home. Few minutes after the email, someone called me to again apologize and he provided me a tracking number for the new muffler.

My point, don't worry. They are good people and they will get this sorted out.

Damn i was LITERALLY about to purchase the xpipe now. I'm at home bored and i wanna buy a ton of stuff online lol.

I guess i'll wait until spring, it's the time when i wanna install the x-pipe anyway.

Any vendors have these in stock? Maybe you can call them before you order it to verify there are no defects??

I agree. It's unfortunate however that these fitment issues aren't realized until after the car is up on the lift and the OEM parts have been removed. It's more of a time waster than anything.

Good luck.

OP, that's unfortunate. I've had Borla products in the past and was happy with their quality and service. I'm sure that they'll come through with this issue...

Also, don't they advertise a "million mile warranty?" So you should be good

Lastly, David Borla is a forum member, he has responded to inquiries on here in the past. Drop him a PM.

Good luck

I hate these "bad parts" posts when I am about to buy something. But am glad to hear of it so I can make sure I buy from a good vendor that will take returns. My experience with Borla over the years has been great, but 2 problems this month starts to give one pause.

It is particularly annoying that you won't find out if you have a problem until you are on your back on cold concrete with your OEM pipe already out and the coverplate off. So what is your next step. Close the garage door leaving your other car outside and leave your car on jackstands for a week or 2 while a new part is shipped to you?

How about just gutting out the factory cats and go with that? Then you know it will fit properly.

You know if you take an X pipe and a CAI tube what you have is a chump valve connected to your wallet.

Sorry to read this. In the past David Borla has been on here, and the name indicates quite a bit. I'd say, do a search and see if you can reach him altho, as said above, this is a tough time of year. I also agree that in the past Borla has been very standup, very responsive and wanting to hear from customers. Realize this is not going to help you, but just know this is not the way they are from past indicators, and I've had quite a few Borla products. Good luck.

Just looked it up for you: here's his page, email, and pm sources.

I watched your vid and it unfortunate that this happened in the middle of your install . Bummer . I'm wondering tho , have u measured the actual diameter of the Borla Xpipe just to see if it's identical in size on both pipes , or it maybe the donut itself that is inconsistent .

What was the problem with the loose seals? Did he send you another pipe? Were you using the wrong seals? I just installed one of the Borla pipes and the seals and entire pipe fit perfectly. Thanks to Borla for a fine product!
