RIP My Top - Repairable or Replace?
Tonight I did something I never thought I'd do, I killed my unlatched color targa top. Still very frustrated with myself but seeking advice if this is repairable or if I have to replace my top.
Sadly along with the fiberglass damage the rear latch broke as well.

Probably both above are correct. If you DIY, it could be a "project," and the labor is sort of free. Otherwise, I don't even know if the latch is separate from the frame and can be purchased that way. You might ask Gene Culley, a vendor on here, if that's available. Then, it's composite repair and repaint. Unless you get very lucky on a used purchase, you'll have to do the repaint on any top that you purchase, as well.

Like the rest. replace is the best options.

Having done about the same to my C5, found that no
Body Shop will touch it. Had to go to Tennessee to get a used replacement and have it painted. Good Luck!

Why is it the convertible tops have a warning buzzer for that and the targas don't? They should know us old guys who buy these cars forget things every now and then.

Even at 50 I would forget.
I really never take off the top.

Thanks for all the suggestions! There's a dark red top on Craigslist local for $150, not sure what a repaint will cost but I guess I'm now in the market for used tops. Probably won't hold my breathe to find a DSOM painted top.
I don't have a transparent top but several times I've came close to picking one up, now that I've gone and done this I feel I've lost my new top budget and it'll go towards the stupid tax of fixing this mistake.

The cost of a proper repair would most likely be more than a used replacement top.Having it painted your body color will add to the cost but you will still be better off with a non-repaired top in my opinion.

I agree. Me? I would spend some time with cloth and resin to see if I could repair it. It you toss it you are only out a few bucks and some time.

You'll spend more money fixing it than you will replacing it.

Seriously? $20 for a glass kit, $5 for sandpaper and see how it turns out.
Turn it in to whom?
