Default What's wrong with my seat?

As you can see from the pictures there are depressions or stretched areas in my drivers seat. I noticed this a few months ago but when I looked back at some pictures I took at delivery, these problems already existed just not as noticeable. I'm only 170 lbs so I can't imagine it's from me sitting it for 7000 miles. I showed this to my mechanic at the dealer the last time I was there and he said they would likely send to an upholstery shop they use. I would like to know what the actual problem is so I can be sure that it is being addressed correctly. I've viewed lots of interior pics on this forum but have not seen any seats that have this condition. I wouldn't want them to add a piece of padding there that doesn't belong there and possibly block the flow of the fans. Should I ask that they replace that section of the seat or the seat cover?

Wallet (not thick) kept in left pocket and as reflected in picture taken at delivery, the problem already existed, just not as evident. Love is blind

Those indents are actually the holes in the seat pad where the cooling fans blow through ...

Most dealers send problems like yours to local automobile upholstery shops. My seat cushion got a stain on it and I had to order a new one. I had an automobile upholstery shop swap out the stained seat cushion. I'm not sure a new seat cushion would solve your problem. Your seat cushion will have to be removed and your seat examined. I would let the dealer take your car to an upholstery shop for repair under warranty.

I assume that's where the fans are but I don't see anyone else having this issue. Which is why I'm asking what is the best remedy. I don't want them adding more padding over them just to make level if it will impede the benefit of the fans. Is my seat missing some padding? If I push for a new seat can I expect the new one to be a perfect match? Anyone get any Kalahari leather replaced and found that the new didn't match the old?

They will not replace the entire seat. If anything, just the leather bottom cover. I would think long and hard before having the bottom upholstery replaced. Many threads about that it only made the problem worse.

Start with this one; https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...placement.html

If you steam the seat with a handheld steamer it was fill and expland the cushion. I would try that before having my seats ripped out and reupholstered.

Through the leather? I'd imagine this is a very temporary solution that just a few minutes of sitting would negate.

Yup through the leather. Many upholstery shops will actually suggest doing this. I first learned of this on an episode of west coast customs.... tried it on my c6 and it actually worked. Also had my sofa restuffed and the technician also suggested doing it in the future should the foam begin to flatten or have less support over time.

Both seats in my 2014 were like that.
I used my wife's handheld clothes steamer, it took all the "slack" out.
Seats were still good the day I sold it a year later.

I cant see how that is normal. Although I'm not sure what I would do, I know I wouldn't be happy.

I had a similar problem. They replaced my seat leather as a 1 time "customer satisfaction" repair. They discovered the fan was damaged while they were in there and replaced that also (had to be ordered). My indentation is starting to come back. I weigh 200 lbs by the way.
