One year old trade value
so i stopped by a dealer the other day and found out my trade in value on my 16 3LT/Z51 with 1800 miles on it is about 28,000 less than the retail sticker if i trade it in on a 17 Z06...has anybody else had a similar experience?

For you guys who trade up every couple of years I feel for you, but you kind of knew that going in if you were paying attention. My 3LT will be inherited by my grand children. I hope they appreciate it, but at that point I'm not going to care. Meanwhile I will enjoy it.

On the positive side there are lots of very lightly used Z06's on the market for deep discounts as well,

On the slightly more positive side, if the market was better and your trade value went up accordingly, the selling prices of the new ones would also be higher. I know it's not a complete wash but the bath you'd be taking wouldn't be quite as bad as you think, assuming that you're able to cut a great deal on the Z06.

You just discovered that most options have no value at trade in time or very little. Reference Kelly Blue Book, the difference between base Stingray and Z51 is about $1,000. I did really good when I traded my 2014 Base Stingray Convertible on a new 2017 Base Stingray Convertible. My options on both cars: M7, 2LT, Navigation/PDR.

I kept the price of my base Stingray around $55,000, instead of $75K or $80K.

Common experience. People think when they get those heavily discounted new C7's it will translate to "stealing" the car and then selling it or trading it in for close to what they pay for it in a year or three down the road. But then you didnt pay retail for your C7 did you?
It ain't gonna happen Sparky.
My 09 and 13 were both 3LT's. Learned my lesson, my incoming 2017 is a 1LT.

Sadly I have to agree about the declining value of options. I have a friend of 10 years that sold me my current '16 Stingray 1LT base A8 coupe new last August and he said that the options can even hurt trade-in due to larger tires, larger and more difficult oil changes, electronic differentials that you can't tell the difference, magnetic shock absorbers that are expensive to replace et al.
That and CarPlay is killing 2LT's and navigation packages. At the end of the day you can add $20k more in options but you will still have the same car and motor.

If you traded today, probably get mid forties (depending on condition and mileage) on a new one. Factor warranty value, depreciation is around three thousand a year.

Sorry to hear about the loss in value, but why would you be considering another vehicle if your current one only has 1800 miles on it? Learn to be content and enjoy what you have.

Why would you trade it in after a year. To expect not to take a bath on it is foolish the steepest depreciation is after a year. I traded in my c6 after 9,years and got back 50% of the purchase price.

Getting all the options you WANT is great but do not expect a return on them at trade in time. The dealer on the other hand will price them in when they sell it.

Someone in my family down the road will be driving my '17 2lt GS down the road after I'm gone. I'm diggin' it for the time being.

I recently traded in my 2014 convertible Z51 2lt 12k miles with manual transmission mag. ride and the usual options.
I received $49,500 from a Nissan dealer in NY.
It was sold at the Manheim auction for $47,500, now it is for sale in N.C. as a CPO vehicle asking price is $54k.
I traded it on a used 2016 GTR.

I ordered my 3LT Vert just the way I wanted it....I will drive it till I trade it on the Mid Engine if it ever comes into being. In the meantime I will ENJOY all the options I have. At my age....I'm gonna enjoy the hell out of everything I do....
