1/4 time help
I have an A8 Z51 with ARH Mids and the ECS SC running @ 6 psi basically on 91 0ctane at 3600 feet elevation and tuned running 525 whp. Stock tires with 16,000 miles but still look good. Temps are now around 55 degrees here.
Using my PDR as a reference before and after mods, I know it may not be truly accurate but I think its a good tool just to see how things are improving. Did a run today with the SC having about 500 miles on it. In sport mode, using launch control I got this: Not a track but will try to get to a track in the spring.
0-60 = 4.2
0-100 = 8.2
1/4 = 12.1 @ 126 mph
Good bit of lost traction in 1st.
With just the mids and a tune I got:
0-60 = 4.4
0-100 = 9.3
1/4 = 12.5 @119
0 - 100 was a good improvement but the 1/4 mile wasn't as much. I think my car might be an under performer from factory so Im looking at the before and afters to see how its improved. I know better tires will help and a better launch.
What Im wondering is: Is this a normal improvement from the before to the after with the SC on with 6 psi? Its 6 psi cuz of the altitude so I will get it up to about 8 PSI with a mod on the intake restrictor plate. Or is there maybe some tuning tweeks that can be done to help improve the run? Not sure how well the tuner knows the C7 so I will be asking for the file from him so maybe someone can look at it and let me know if its a good tune or not. He uses HP Tuners.
From the times posted, what would my times be like if I was able to use 93 octane and say 500 elevation?
Thanks.

You can send the file to me if you like. I am more familiar with track slip break down than 0-60/0-100 times, but in general I see an average of 11.0/128 with our kit on a bone stock car.
Some have made it into the tens with good air, with your elevation I would expect somewhere in the 11.4/11.6 range.

What do you think of the fact that I improved 1.1 secs on the 0 - 100 but only .4 on the 1/4?

Sounds good and thanks. Like I said I think my car was on the slower side from the factory from the runs I have done with it compared to the 2015 Z51 A8 I had in stock form on both. But Im just looking to see if the gains with the SC on now are about normal from the before.

Yea not really sure how accurate the PDR is but I use it as a rough guideline till I can get to the track. I would think it is fairly accurate though to be used as a device to show how much you have improved. Kinda like dynos which can be different so if you use the same one things should show a some what true gain on mods.

I don't know anything about the accuracy of the PDR, but 126mph is pretty impressive. It should translate to low to mid 11's. Check the sticky that shows the C7 fast list for comparable trap speeds.

I too thought the trap was pretty good but then the time had me a little perplexed. Im sure the PDR may not be acurate but I hope it is atleast consistant so I can use for befores and aters. I guess a track date is in need in the spring or early summer.

As a note I did a 0-60 run today and the temp was high 50s. I had read in another thread to do the run in Touring with the TC off and no launch control, I did do a real quick burnout, just a little smoke, and was able to get a 4.0. So thats .2 better than before and should result in high 11s if I can get that when I do another 1/4 mile run.

You think it was too cold for the enigine or the wheels? I know the wheels were too cold but I thought the engine would benifit from the cold.

Remember that ET is so traction-dependent that in a car like this it's almost useless as a metric unless you've got drag radials, a prepped track, and so on.
MPH is really the indication of horsepower you're looking for. I know it's not what bench racers quote all the time, but you're looking for back to back comparisons, and that's much more accurate if you use the MPH and not the ET.

Thanks for the replies guys. Im waiting to find some time and a place to do a couple more runs now that I have found a pretty good way of launching the car and see how my MPH go.

at 525hp you don't need to go crazy on wheels. Just get some nitto nt05r for your stock rears.. then get it on a track. You will never have real reaction on the streets. I guarantee you that you will be in the low 11s if not High 10s if you do these two simple things.
