Corvette prices drop like a rock!
Now that I have your attention ;p, I was wondering how well Corvettes actually hold their value, I have a 2016 Z06 with 11,500 miles on it and I'm sure I could not sell it for nearly what I owe, What I am curious about is, in few years when I have 30,000 miles on it what it will roughly be worth in say 1-3 more years??
This is one of the very few cars that I plan to own for a very long time, it has amazing power and I love the way it looks with the stage 3 aero. I am just curious if Vettes drop like a rock in value??

They hit an initial drop. For example your car is worth 63-70k. With that being said 5 years from now it will still be worth high 40s - low 50s. So to me it holds decent value.

However, just like everything else, used car prices are dependent on Supply & Demand.
If the economy tanks in the next few years, expect the supply to be high and the demand lower than normal.

Initially all cars drop unless it's a GT3RS or something very exotic. C7Z preowned market is still taking shape but I'd say these cars will settle in the mid 50s for a long time before dipping into the 40s
In three years time your car will be a 52-55k car depending on how well you keep it up. Are there exceptions to rules and trends.. sure.

These are one of my least favorite threads. If you want to invest in something that won't dramatically lose value, buy gold or an old Porsche. Otherwise, enjoy your purchase and realize that almost every new car is a losing deal if you're looking at them as investments.

New Corvettes are on a steep depreciation curve. That is just the way it is. They are an investment in pleasure. You would have to own it for a very long time before it has any Classic value. Enjoy it. They are a lot of fun to drive.

Last weekends Mecum Auction at Kissimmee was a good indicator where the market is for mid year Vettes and only the rare ones brought the money. The deep discounts will only hurt when it comes time to sell.

My rule of thumb is based on what it cost me to drive my GS before I traded it and that was roughly 5 grand a year. Now if you bought when the market was high as in you were one of many who paid a ton of cash for it, well you already lost an additional 10-20k on it After that, figure 5-7K a year drop.

A five year old Z06 (C6) sells between $40k and $50k depending on options and mileage. Given how much higher the original MSRP of the C7 is, I would expect in 2020 that a 2015 Z06 will sell for around $50k.
Used 2009 GTRs went down to $60k used fairly quickly and they've been sitting around that price for probably 5 years.

I was at the Mecum and the prices were soft for run of the mill mid years and Solid Axles. Special cars brought the money. I don't even view my old Vettes as investments. I own them because they look great and are fun to drive. If they appreciate it's a nice by product of owning and enjoying them.

Yes, you may live in an area where winter isn't a concern but Corvette prices are more national Vs regional so when prices are depressed in the northern half of the country they tend to depress all across the country.
