Aftermarket carbon fiber weave hood insert
Does anybody know if anybody sells an aftermarket carbon fiber weave hood insert? Can it be used to replace a carbon flash stinger decal?

I've never seen one. You'd probably have to look at vinyl, or reach out to someone like Caravaggio.
Edit: or get an oem hood.

As I understand it - the hood itself is carbon fiber and costs $4K whereas the "carbon flash" stinger stripe is like $200. I was hoping an exposed carbon fiber insert was in between there and hopefully closer to $200...

I don't think it is an insert. While the oem hood is carbon my understanding is that the painted ones have a coarser weave while the ones that have the center exposed have a more cosmetic weave where the clear coat is. It is not something that is inserted. I suppose you could do a vinyl weave stripe there and it would be inexpensive.

I heard it as "insert" so I guess that made me assume that.
I guess the question then becomes does the vinyl carbon fiber look crappier than the carbon flash from GM? Anybody done this before?

My understanding of the exposed weave oem hood is that it's the standard cf hood, but they use an insert of exposed weave cf to lay on top of the stinger to create the effect. Then the hood is cleared after that. So it's real cf, they just don't go through the expense of making the weave on the whole hood visible grade.
Some of the cf vinyl looks pretty good, you could always get some and put it on. If it looks like *** you can take it off. It's really up to you though as to whether it looks crappy or not.

Now this is what I would do just to be on the safe side and also try and get in touch with someone from GM that might know exactly what weave pattern and if its possible to do so without messing anything up? But yea some wraps these days look great but IMHO, having the same Carbon Flash on my Arctic White C7, I would rather have the real carbon as well....just my 2cents

I've only seen one carbon fiber wrap material and it doesn't compare with the exposed carbon fiber

The carbon fiber vinyl's about $400 IIRC. What's a new hood cost? I'm assuming I'd need to get the whole hood. Last I checked that was $4K. I don't know. Maybe my current hood can be refinished and be cheap? I don't know. I haven't found any info on that. If you know then by all means...

Nice look for the faux carbon fiber stinger. But if it's only vinyl it does not serve an carbon fiber purpose so it looks out of place.

I've got good news for you, Caravaggio makes one and it's only $1700...his work is top notch so I wouldn't be concerned about fitment https://www.caravaggiocorvettes.com/z-rise-hood-carbon
