Default SW with a 350

What do you think the price discount would be for a good condition 1963 split window that had the original 327 replaced with a 350? Any concerns about doing such a replacement?

15k to 20k if not fuel injection car I would think. 10k on the low-side.
If the car is nice?

I would agree, and, I don't know what it matters what WAS in the car originally once the 'born with' motor is gone... If an SWC has a 350 in it I don't much care if it was a fuelie or base motor in the past.

The only reason the info is useful is if you are confirming other aspects of originality....e.g. SHP motors shouldn't have a steering damper, etc.

Unless you are going to produce a 'tribute' car, which will prob get you upside down money-wise fast enough to make your head swim

The cost of a 327 engine to replace the 350 discounted, aside frm so many other aspects of condition and original parts.

Depending on your intentions, a good running 350 is just fine with minimal discount expected on a really nice car with many original parts and no butchered up body..

X3 what these gents are saying. Morley nailed it. Big difference in value between a fuelie numbers correct SWC and the same car in the same condition with a Targetmaster in it. BIG difference. If it was 1975, not a real issue. But in 2017, a big deal.

I was told the original engine was the standard 327/250hp.

Prob less of a whack on price than if it was a fuelie...

E.g.

If its now a $75K car it doesn't matter if it would have been a $100K car with a 250hp mill or a $145K car with a fuelie engine...either way its now a $75K car regardless of fender badging IMO..

If you have these questions as a buyer, you're going to be facing the same ones when you're a seller so make allowances accordingly.

On the plus side, with the original engine gone, you're more or less free to modify at will, i.e. restomod.

Thanks all. If this car were in very good condition, pretty much all original except the engine, 60K miles....would a selling price of $69,000 be reasonable?

In today's market, I'd say it is.

Regardless, sounds like you may be a bit of a novice in the 63 world (most of us are); when you say the car is original other than the engine you're making a lot of assumptions....you should have it looked over before you plunk down your $70K.
