1957 alternator conversion
I am installing an alternator on my 1957 Corvette 283. I am using a Corvette Central bracket to mount alternator off drivers side exhaust manifold. The stock generator adjustment bracket does dot have the right profile to work. Can anyone tell me what adjustment bracket I should use.
Thanks,
Pat

Steve Pratt, who is "Jalapeno" on the Chevytalk forum, now manufactures an alternator that looks like a generator ------------------------AND, he now has it in a power steering version. What is significant about this, is that the 55-59 PS generators and the Corvette tach drive generators are nearly one in the same (with some differences in the end plates). Thus, the Corvette tach drive gear box is a DIRECT bolt-on fit with the PS alternator. I just got this information from Steve this week. His business is Authentic Automotive.

I have the same ps style alternator. Problem is at tach correct pulley gives only 14 amps at idle. Bigger pulley correct the idle amps but over runs the tach.

If you are running a regular style alternator and a short water pump, you need the Alan Grove bracket 213L SC - Alt.:

I have a new one I painted black that I would let go for $50 plus shipping. It didn't fit my Powergen (which is longer than the standard alternator) so I went with a stock 57 type set up.
