2000+ Mile drive...take the vette?
in late February I will be driving from my home in MD to NC to pick up my Mom then on our way to Ft. Lauderdale FL to visit my brother
Its about 1000 miles each way- although Ill stay a night in charlotte. do you guys take these things on extra long trips? Its hard for me b/c I want to keep the miles off the car, but I did buy it to drive!

drive it like you stole it with Mom in the car.. That'd be fun.. I'm planning on doing the Skyline Drive and Blue Ridge Mountains this year.. Car doesn't do me any good sitting in the garage..

They are meant to be enjoyed by driving them, although many just like to polish and sit behind them, but that is Ok.
As far as mileage is concerned, I decided in 2010 to use my C6 on each of our road trips, no matter how long. The C6 is a great highway cruiser, great in rain with the right tires, and great gas mileage.
My wife and I just love using it on our trips.
Our longest was about 5000 miles and 3 weeks.
My first drive on this car was from the dealer in St. Mary's OH to New Brunswick, Canada, approx 1250 miles away.
I loved it then, and I still love driving it now.
We have had a 1500 mile, 1200 mile, 1000 mile, and many shorter ones during each summer. We have 60 K miles of road trips on the C6.
I'm hoping when the mileage gets too high, is to buy a low mileage late model C6, or early C7.
I love that so many want to save their cars for the next driver

Take the Vette and enjoy the drive. It's going to depreciate if you drive or or not. The financial difference in eventual selling price between a low mile car and one that has been enjoyed is not much. DRIVE IT !

Do it!
Over the past holiday, I did a 2800 mile trip from Olympia, WA to Los Angeles to see the family. Not only did I have a blast as I deviated from the most direct route to take some "State Routes" that run E/W from 5 to 101/Hwy 1, but amazingly.... the car was really comfortable for the 2.5 days each way.
A side benefit of a long drive is that you'll get all sorts of waves, smiles, and such from drivers on the road who appreciate the Vette and its heritage.
Consider yourself a rolling Vette Ambassador and go for it!

Last May/June I took my first long trip in my Vette, 5800 miles. We enjoyed the drive and will be doing another trip this summer. Do it!!

These cars are very comfy on the road. My mom at 87 years old loved riding in it. The key to getting in and out for everyone, and particularly an older parent, is to sit backwards onto the seat and then swivel around. Do the opposite to get out. Just watch their head.

You should never do any of that road trip nonsense!
These cars are meant to be left in the garage, and if you drive it, you lose your official "waxer card". SO, stay home or drive some other car (and wish you were driving your real love). I would never do virtually the same road trip a few years ago. Or drive across the US a few times, or into Canada a couple times, or…. NOPE, NO WAY!
After you leave your car home, and you eventually get tired of looking at it, PM me; I need a new one, mine might be wearing out.

Well some people have not so good health and more than 3 hours at a time tends to make it so i can't walk. Besides that i like my caddy just as much but for different reasons that you wouldn't understand as is apparent by your post.

Last summer took a 4200 mile 21 day road trip to Calcagry Canada and back. There were 23 Corvettes on the trip. Saw some great country and even loaded on to a ferry out of Victoria, to come back into the U. S. As everyone says these cars are great fun to , thats' why I own one. I also do car shows and auto-x's Very

Drive the Vette! Only caution would be your moms mobility, hips and knees. I hurt after sitting in mine for for several hours. Surprisingly my C3s are easier to get in and out of. Not nicer to drive though!

I took a 3200+ mile trip from Texas to Cali and back to spend this past Christmas with my family, and enjoyed the drive more than I did spending time with my family.
Corvettes are meant to drive, and are amazing on long trips. Go for it!
