Default Tires for 1969

I am looking for period correct tires for my 69. Had decided on BF Goodrich radial T/A RWL in a 215/R7015. Tire Rack states these tires will not fit my 8'' ralley wheels. I am wanting a tire to also fit in the spare tub.

Car has Bridegstone 255/50R17 with ralley wheels on it now. I bought it with them.
It also came with a set of BF Goodrich Silvertown Radial redlines in size 225/70R15 on original wheels. Tire won't fit in tub and they look aged, but never run. I am going to remove them and put on new tires.

So the original question Will 215/70R15 fit my original wheels and Tire Rack wrong?

Thanks

Yes, 215/70/15's will fit the 8" wheel and the 225/70/15 should also fit in the spare tire tub. Just adjust the tire tub bolts.

Hi b,
The 215-70-15 size tire is generally considered to be the modern day equivalent size of the original F70-15 tire.
I agree with Revi's information.

Alan

Did you intend to state 255/50R15 are on it now as opposed to 17?

Thanks for the info on tires. No reason for the message from Tire Rack that these tires would not fit my stock wheels. I will order them.

The car does have 17's on it now, chrome ralleys with original style center cap. I don't like the low profile sidewall tire on it now.
