Default Last question on valves. Buying soon

I did some searching but can't get a straight answer. When is it necessary to check the valves? At what mileage? 5k 10k when ?

Some 8 year old cars with 4K miles have been out of spec and some have had 80K miles and seem to run fine. I never considered running mine without a warranty unless I had the heads checked; while I could afford the $17K bill I didn't want to. 09 at 46K miles had 14 of 16 valve guides outside GM spec of .0037" clearance.

I spent the $ on a full HCI build with WCCH heads, good cam and lots of other good stuff.

Whatever the mileage is on the car when you buy it, that's when you have them checked.

With 28K miles on my '09 Z, that .0037 GM spec was at .009! WCCH did the heads. I'll check it again in another 10K miles.

Lots of good replies in this thread.
As mentioned above, once you own the z06 make sure to check the heads.

If you want to do the head check yourself we have a "wiggle test diy" here on the forum that will walk you through it step by step.

If you do end up reworking/replacing the heads give us a call:
310-326-2399
Or shoot us an email:
Hp@americanheritageperformance.com

We have been reworking LS7 heads for years at the rate of 3-5 sets of ls7 heads per week. There are many members here on the corvette forum running our AHP LS7 heads.

You can either send in your heads to be reworked or use one of our core sets (we send them out ahead of time and then you send back your old heads after you complete the swap).

Yep. What they said ^^^^. I went with AHP stage 4 heads with the moldstar guides. Can't go wrong. Excellent value. If you want to see what all of the stink is about, just google "blown up ls7" and go to images. A picture speaks a thousand words. Buy it, park it, put heads on it and then drive the hell out of it!
