Default My Hole's Too High! (Keisler Tranny)

Yep, it's too high. Dialled in the bellhousing for the Keisler 5 speed and I'm 40 thou off. The instructions say 5 is the max. The obvious solution is to put in off-set pins. Now my question is how do the off-set locating pins work? How can you move the location of the bellhousing and still have the bolts thread into the engine block? is there that much clearance around the bolts?

Another problem with this install is the imput shaft. The tranny has 26 spline count and my new McLeod twin disk (less than 100 miles on it) has 12. Do you know if I can purchase the clutch discs only? Sure don't want to spend another 700 dollars plus for a whole new assembly!

The alignment holes are much larger than your bolt holes. These are the slickest pins available

Yes you can buy just a replacement disk.

The bell housing being .040 out is huge. What type of bell housing is this? Will offset alignment pins even begin to handle that? Did you divide the difference between the largest and least figures by two?

I know it's huge! It's a QuckTime light weight steel shield. I've got another one in the back shed, I'll throw it on and see what I get from that one. I had a Muncie on this light weight shield before and had no vibrations. I wonder how tight the clearance is in relation to the 'flange' of the Keisler?

Thanks for the info.

Wow - usually Quicktime are known to be real close. I put one on a Ford FE a few years ago and it was under .004 out. Hard to believe it could be out that much. Any chance you dropped a decimal point? Every time I use my dial gage I have to think - now what am I recording here?
