Default Question for Borla Exhaust owners

Hey Borla fans!

Looking for some brutally honest feedback from anyone with the Borla Atak or S Type systems WITH NPP on their Z.

I had Borla Stingers on my C6 GS (no NPP), and the sound was amazing and a huge improvement over stock.

I left the stock NPP on my 2014 Stingray because I was really happy with the tone and volume - I thought the C7 NPP was a huge improvement over previous gen stock exhausts.

I have fuse 42 pulled in my Z, but if I go aftermarket I would hope it would provide a reason to put the fuse back in and actually use the NPP controls.

Tone is more important to me than volume.

So my questions are: Is the Borla system noticeably louder and how would you rate the improvement in tone? Are you super happy with the change or is it just OK? (please specify if you have Atak or S).

Thanks a lot!

I have a set of ATAK with NPP inbound so I can't answer just yet. I had Stingers on my C5 and also have them on my C6. I had ATAK without NPP on my 2013 427. I currently have my valves set for open all of the time on my Z but the sound just isn't there for me.

Cool, if you dont mind, update us when installed. I was thinking Atak was the way to go with NPP.

Default Borla ATAK on my 2017 Z07

It does sound louder / better but mostly from x-pipe. The axle back gives it a nice rumble sound. NPP works great for me since I don't need it to be too loud when I leave early AM on a weekend. No drone.

I have the Borla X pipe and Borla exhaust. Sounds little louder at idle. When you get on it louder than stock. No drone, I feel some HP gains with CAI, no HP test but can feel a difference. Scale of 1 to 10 I would rate it a 7 on the ATAK. Just still not overwhelmed with the sound.
I have a 2016 Shelby 350 which sounds much better stock.
So again lot of money not to be impressed with wow!!! Just my personal opinion.

Nice!! GT350 sounds good not because of the exhaust. It's the engine firing order (crossplane) that create the rumble sound. Great choice!!
Borla is much better value when you compare it to Akro or Capristo which sound a little louder but at triple the price.
The other exhausts that are within the same price range but louder don't take full advantage of NPP and do generate drone.

I have the Borla ATAK with no other exhaust modifications. I think it sounds better than stock and retaining the NPP was a requirement for me, but it still doesn't sound amazeballs.

That said, I'm not convinced that any other brands sound any better, even at 4x the money.

Start with just the Borla X pipe. It's cheap, sounds amazing, and everything works like stock. If not enough then go spend the big bucks

I love it and I used to have catless headers and stingers on C5Z and catless headers on C6Z.

Best,
gene
