Default 2016 Z06 tailpipe cleaner

Does anyone know of a good cleaner for the stock tailpipes of a 2016 Z06? I'm assuming that they're stainless. Thanks!

I just give them a quick spritz of Zaino Z6 quick detailer and a buff with a microfiber towel and they stay looking new. If they are allowed to get real dirty something like mothers stainless cleaner polish works well.

I use chrome cleaner or non abrasive aluminum polish. Finally a traditional bidet for hard to reach tall pipes is always good.

Any metal/chrome polish will do the cleaning job.

If you want them shiney:

It's imperative you don't clean the exhaust on a 2015 or 2017 in the same manner as a 2016. The results will be devastating!!!

As far as tools I use the cone from autozone on my drill,I was able to remove some gunk that didn't budge with any towel.

^ this! We covered this extensively in the old C6 blog; didn't we Higgs?

The Easy-Off cleaner is as simple as spray on, wait five minutes (grab a cold beverage), rinse off then towel dry. Done! Rarily do I ever need to polish them. They will look new once done with the oven cleaner.

Tip! Don't use it while the tips are hot.

FWIW: I use it to clean a lot of automotive items.

For years I have been using the 'stuff' from the Griot's.........I put it on with part of an old cotton t-shirt rag and wipe/buff it off with the clean part of the same t-shirt rag. I probably put it on 2-3 times a year, and in between I just use the t-shirt rag to wipe/buff the black gunk. been using the same tube for years now.............

Applied Pinnacle Black Label Diamond Wheel Coating to the chrome wheels & exhaust tips when they were new, so an effortless wipe with a microfiber & waterless wash makes them look like new again in seconds. One application has worked well for 2 years.

Regular, everyday stainless, brass cleaner works just fine. No need to spend extra $s for Mothers, etc. Brasso multi-purpose metal polish, 8oz. I use it, works just fine.

I find that if you clean them while they are hot with just a rag they stay pretty clean. When they get real bad I use simichrome polish and the mother's cone on them.

It is just black carbon from the exhaust, I use carburetor cleaner on a rag and simply wipe it off.

I use Adams metal polish and a PowerBall. Mine look like chrome. I typically wipe them out with a damp cloth every time I drive my car.

Keeping these tailpipes clean is easier than washing your hands. Just clean them every couple of days with a wet paper towel and as stated above, if you do it while they are warm/hot, it's simply a black powder that comes off, no streaks, just clean. Personally, I don't want them black painted, I like 'em nice and shiny clean.

stainless steel fridge wipes or WD 40 or ballistol, or whatever carwash you use +eagle one nevr-dull if they get a bit pitted...takes all of 2 minutes

no power tools or high$ products required.
