Default Torque tube removal HELP!

I have a 2001 auto, I have searched and read all the forums related to TT removal. The drive train is completely dropped out from the chasis. I have removed the 5 13mm bolt from the bell housing but I can not get the TT to come out of the flywheel. I have used pry bars but no luck. Is there something I am missing? I have been able to get it to come out about an inch or so. I have attached a photo. Any help is appreciated.

C54EVER, That is exactly what I was missing. Thank you! None of the threads or sticky's I read mentioned loosing this clamp.

Actually, I detailed how I came up with a modified Allen key to do just this in the drivetrain removal thread I posted quite a while back.

https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...mega-pics.html

From that thread:
Btw, I cut the short leg off a 10mm allen key and used it with a deep socket to get to the drive shaft clamp screw in the bell housing.

Here’s a shot of the clamp after the TT was removed.

There is a specific process in putting the A4 TT back together. The SM has you just slightly snug the drive shaft clamp and then run the car for about 10 minutes and then torqueing it to final spec, IIRC.

Good luck with the reassembly.

LOL! I was going to write the exact same thing! You beat me to it.

If you don't properly follow the procedure, it will make a popping noise and or crack the flex plate.

Can anyone explain how that can be? I'm putting in a new flex plate in a day or two and don't want to damage it. What initial torque setting would you use for that 10 minute start up period?
