Aluminum cleaning/polishing information?
A while back there was a really good thread about cleaning grease and grime off of the aluminum suspension parts and wheels. I've tried to find it via the search function, but I'm not finding the info I need. I remember it talked about different cleaning products you all were using etc.
Does anyone recall that thread and have a link to it?

Use eagle one "etching" mag cleaner, spray it on wait 30sec. And wash off with a lot of water. Don't get it your wheels or anything that has a clear coat.
After that you can polish it with some steel wool and aluminum polish.
It will look better than new.

Well, my car stays outside as I don't have a garage , yet. But the front has done well as well as the rear knuckles and dog bones are still fairly bright. The half shafts are getting a nice patina on them though.
There is one forum member on here that had a polishing business and polished all of his aluminum to a mirror shine, don't know if he cleared it or not. And DMITZZ powder coated all of his stuff and it looks awesome.

Eastwood has bare metal clear paint. It works pretty good. I have used the satin finish one. That is what I will be using when I pull the suspension out to rebuild it.

I have used this on sandblasted steel also. Makes a nice satin grey finish when used this way.

I spent a few hours working on the driver's side front of the '87 I've been working on. Very heavy grease on the suspension parts and the inside of the wheel.
Lot's of elbow grease and simple green.
Started out looking like this.
And I ended up with this.
One down. 3 more corners to go.

Not a perfect comparison because lighting is different etc, but there's definitely an improvement. I think I need a better scrubbing to get it perfect but for a car that sat in a barn for years, it's certainly coming along.
Thanks for the tip, the eagle one stuff is great!

To those who used Eagle 1 on bare aluminum engine and suspension parts: can you please provide some long-term feedback? Are the parts you used Eagle 1 on still as bright 1,2,3+ years later?? Thx!
