Default 1963 horn continuously blows

i think this is the first time I have hooked the horn up in about 30 years. It works. But when I push the horn it will not stop blowing. I unplug the relay and it resets until I push the button again. I am sure the relay is sticking. But is there a way to fix this? Or just replace it? More interested than anything

If it's the same as a 66, I took the cover off one and filed the contacts flat so they didn't stick from the arc of contact. While you're in there check to make sure the spring that pulls the contacts apart is connected and working properly.

Do the 63's have the ground strap on the rag joint?...if so...run a test wire from one end to the other to check... it could be broken into...dead short..

If the wire breaks in two, there would be an open and the horn wouldn't blow at all.

I would try tapping on the horn relay when it sticks and see if it stops. It may just be a weak spring. I may also that you have a high resistance short to the black wire between the relay and the horn button to keep the relay closed until the voltage is removed and the current isn't enough to activate it again until you press the button.

63s have the rag joint ground strap...it would be a long shot that that is the issue...

I replaced the rag joint years ago with a universal joint. Right now the horn button is broken so one is on order. So to test all I am doing is grounding the plunger to the shaft of the column.

Either the relay points are sticking or you are not completely removing the ground to the black horn wire

Would jumping the rag joint with a wire work as a ground?

Connecting a wire across the rag joint would work if your ground was broken and the horn wasn't working, but what you have is a horn that's working too much, a rag joint won't cause that. See my last post

Another question is I only have one horn hooked up. Would that cause the relay not to work. Not enough current being drawn
