Default I followed a MB GTR

Yesterday I was surprised to pull up behind a MB AMG GTR like this picture. I didn't know what model it was until reading about it in R&T. I can say it looks very different in person from the rear and it looked very wide and impressive. The mag. says it won't be out till summer so I think this was a dealer visit car or a factory test car (which we see here often in Arizona). It was in dark grey metallic. At $170k 577HP 516 lb ft and A7 plus heavier than our Z06 I think we have the best deal going. I followed him closely with my paddles holding 3k plus and exhaust open so he could hear the sound of my bright yellow Z06 in his mirror. It didn't warm my heart enough.

Nice! They are not out yet but you can order the AMG. GTR. I believe it's a 200k to 220k base.
On a road course, I am sure it will be faster than the Z06, GT3RS and possibly Viper ACR. Is has track handling and performance features that are above and beyond horsepower and torque. This might be the most anticipated track car in the world at the moment.

Ah I miss MB headquarters being next door, it was always fun seeing their test cars very early.

At least I still have BMW headquarters about a mile or so away

I think you will be correct. Here is a listing of the Top 100 Nurburgring Fastest Laps.

The M-B AMG GTR is currently 7th on this list. In fairness, I do not see a C7 Z06 listed, but the M-B AMG GTR is only about 4 seconds slower than the Porsche 918 - a $900K monster.

Impressive list of cars and lap times:

While the GTR does have 73 less horsepower and 143 lb-ft less torque than the C7 Z06, the 3428 GTR weighs 96 pounds less than the 3524 pound C7 Z06, not more

The A7 you mentioned is a 7 speed DCT. I would venture to say a DCT is an improvement over the Corvette's A8 Hydramantic.

One big advantage that the GTR has over the C7 Z06 is in it's aerodynamics. The GTR has a top speed of 198 MPH. That's with 73 less horsepower than the Z06, and the C7 Z06 will not hit 198 MPH. Should I mention that the C6 Z06 is even better as it has a top speed of 198 MPH with 72 les horsepower than the GTR

I believe that the GTR is only available painted green. Were you able to get close enough to the rear end to actually read the badge to see if it was a GTS or GTR?

It's even possible that you ran up behind the 550 HP GTC which is painted gray. Only 50 of the GTC's were made.

Beautiful cars. Money no object, I'd own one tomorrow. One of the best interiors for the money that I've ever seen.

The GT-R isn't available yet at least in the US.

A fixed spoiler is an option on the GT-S and was on the launch edition of the GT-s.

The amg gt-c is just about to go into production and the AMG GT started showing up a few months back.

The GT-R IS available in colors other than magna green, in fact the green is an EXPENSIVE option.

Lastly pricing on the US had not been announced. further using euro pricing to extrapolate a domestic price usually doesn't work.

I have driven several GT-S, and tracked another at one point. It's a fabulous car. I am highly considering one.

if you saw a test or a demo or something, I am totally (monster) green with envy!!!!!

The MB GTR is an awesome ride. Yet for the money we are still way ahead of the curve.

Its a real shame, i grew up on the back street behind MB headquarters. I used to hike through the woods and go see all the new cars when i was growing up.

Where did you get your info about the GTR being available in different colors and that the fixed rear wing was an option on the GTR?

I found this video(UK spec cars) and they show different colors available but all cars come with the fixed rear wing as standard equipment.

7.10:92 on the Ring and hit 302KPH(187.65 MPH)..

About mid way in the video he was following another car and then the other car was gone. Was that a C7 Z06 he was following that absolutely ran off and left the GTR. LOL?

Anyone notice that those dumb *** Germans, that don't know it can't be done, done stuck a DOHC V8 with twin turbo's under that low hood without a tall power bulge on the hood. Watching the video of the car at the Ring, it seems that one can see over the hood very nicely.

GM refused to release the C7Z06 "GOOD Nurburgring time" that Tadge said in a press conference that it did. That is why there is no C7Z06 time listed. He said it would be released soon, over 2 years ago.

The R&T article on the MNB GT-R indicated itw would go on sale in the USA in May 2017.

I meant the wing is an option and was on the launch edition GT-S. I will update my post for clarity. Sorry, I totally see how that was confusing.

As per the colors the green is actually called AMG green hell magno code 376.

There are 12 paint options currently.

You are totally missing the point. It has ACTIVE aero and rear wheel steering.

These are the 2 hot future features right now in performance cars.
Hopefully, the C8 will have them too.
