Factory original body trim tag is mentioned in almost all descriptions ,why would cars not have original trim tag . Bought my 63 there .can you tell if tag original?

People remove them for many reason. If someone built a race car and didn't care and the tag had a disable colors they could have sold it. Or someone didn't like the colors and wanted to get a fake tag to match the new colors.

Not just colors, leather vs vinyl, etc.

Well, I'm sure if you post a close-up pic of it here, you'll get a pretty good idea of its originality very quickly....

There are a few tell-tales between authentic and repo tags. Lets have a look. Bill

Trim tags stick up above the Z-bar and get bent up and beat to death on cars needing lost of maintenance and careless mechanics....and spot welded on (barely).

I'm surprised most cars still have them...

Trim tags were riveted. Only 63-64 VIN tags were spot welded.

Now Proteam is in a bind. Once they listed a car as "original trim tag", now they have to list it for all or it will seem like this one isn't. They also open up the possibility of liability if turns out not to be original. I would not even mention it if I made their decisions for them. There are many other word besides "original" they could use and be fine.

The folks at pro team have been to the rodeo many times and know a real from fake trim tag from miles away so the risk is minimal.
"Numbers Matching" on the other hand is a horse of a very different color- a vague disclaimer that can mean almost anything.
