Default Is everyone else's upper pulley touching?

Adding and removing mods today and came across this. The car seems to be running 100% but this just doesn't look right. Is this normal?

Thanks!

Best,
Gene

Someone missed a machining step in the casting web. It is very obvious on my 2017 that a notch was cut in the casting web after the part was cast to provide pulley clearance.

If you can I would cut a notch with a die grinder simply because the constant rubbing/side loading isn't doing the front bearing/bearings any favors.

My 2017 has a notch for clearance. Like Ron said somebody missed that step on yours. Not sure how to get in there to grind without taking the pulley off. Maybe an 1/8" diameter carbide burr?

I'm a dentist. Bring it over to my place and I can fix it!

I've been looking for a reason to drive coast to coast.

I still have powertrain warranty to hopefully the dealer can take care of it. Hmmm. Or would an aftermarket pulley fit better???

Best,
Gene

I don't know how I'd feel about it, but it's likely already perfectly clearanced itself on its own. That thing spins what, 20,000 rpm on a good day? It's past it's rubbing stage.

That's true unless the pulley ever shifts aft, of course. No idea why it would, but that would be my only reason for taking it apart at this point.

If you're confident the dealer can take it apart, clearance the casting, and reassemble without incident then that's the way to go!
