Default FOB will not open doors

Hi I have had my 08 parked in the garage since last October. About a month ago friend came to look at it and the FOB worked then.
Today I went to open the car and now neither one of the FOB's will do anything.
The previous owner had installed a battery charger in the trunk which i plugged in about 2 weeks ago and left plugged for about 2 weeks and then unplugged after that.
Can't get in the car at all now.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
Randy

Pull the key out of the base of the fob, put it in the lock above the rear license plate, open the hatch (or trunk if it's a convertible), reach in and pull the manual door release cable. Then open the driver's door and reach in and pull the hood release, then address your dead car battery.

Then take the owner's manual home and give it a good read.

Make sure you do not have a phone charger hooked up in your console. This will mess it up sometimes.

Sounds to me like the battery is dead, or am I missing something?

There is a very remote possibility that both FOB batteries died on you, but it's more likely your car's battery is dying. Have it load tested (if it still starts your car after you get into the car) and have the charging system checked too. Best of luck.

Same exact thing happened to me. Neither of my 2 fobs would allow the door to open. I replaced one of the fob batteries and bingo. Replaced the other as well being I bought a 4 pack. Both work fine now. Note: I keep my car hooked up on a battery tender so it seemed obvious. Hope yours is also.
