Flooded my C6... terrible experience...
So with a vararam ram air intake I went through 8 9 inches of water... took in water to my engine...
Surprisingly water got into my cabin aswell... how in gods name I have no idea, wasn't high enough water to get through the bottom of the door, somehow the water came through beneath the car
The fuse box area filled up with water and that translated to my carpet...
Took out spark plugs, cleared all the water, cleaned MAF, everything worked out great there, cleared any temp codes that came up, no engine trouble at all, I wonder if the car is smart enough to shut the engine off as soon as it realized there was water? Not sure...
Then my passenger window starting messing up... thats when I new the BCM had to have taken water in... I didn't think the water got high enough to get in it...
Removed BCM (fuse box) Biggest pain in the *** to open it up... 2 metal pins like riveted in made it nearly impossible to open, I had to cut them out with a diamond bit dremel...
Finally opened up the BCM, decent amount of water... Cleaned it all up, dried it up, put ev
erything back together with a bit of glue, considering I destroyed those pins. And finally.... after all that work everything is good to go! Except for Wet carpet smell...
All of this because I didn't see a puddle...
Just wanted to share my experience.
this is me outside waiting for a tow...

"In honor of jpee"
I know, or have seen the aftermath of V-ram and Houston rain. That's a statement and question. Answer: no thanks.

Hope you have good car insurance, and they give you junkyard engine.

Drifting
Wow- I drove my last vette (w a vararam)through about 7-8 inches of standing water one night on a flooded highway. Thankfully, I had no issues. You must have hit the water at a decent speed or it was deeper than you thought. Either way, good luck fixing it.
It should go w/o saying, but if you keep the Vararam, throw that filter away. After I drove my car through water, the metal on the filter actually rusted within a week or 2 and essentially made the filter a giant solid brick.

Melting Slicks
drove mine through a monsoon all the way from Houston to OKC. Saw a C4 and several cars in the ditch. Other than a long stressful trip, didn't have a mechanical problem and am grateful for traction control.

I drive mine in heavy rain (fairly often recently), but do avoid standing water where possible. I don't fear the rain, but I do fear flooded areas. However, I don't have a Vararam, I have a Callaway Honker. I'm sure the VRam adds to the issue.
As others have stated, glad it worked out for you, relatively speaking. Could have been far worse.

Also, don't forget that moving through the water faster than a crawl makes the water move all over the place such that a nice wave of it could reach higher than the static depth of the water. So 8-9 inches could easily swell 12 or more and that's definitely high enough for water to go places you don't want it.
