Default Range Technology questions (California and relocation)

Couple quick Range Technology AFM Disable questions:
  1. Will they really not ship to California? Haven't tried the order process but see the message and will do it a different way if that is the case.
  2. I think I saw someone stating they have used an OBDII extension cable with a switch. I see them on ebay and other locations, just want to make sure it really works and if people had some good locations for relocating it with that. I suppose I could stuff it under the dash, just don't really want to see the LED's on the unit and it would be nice to have a switch to turn it on/off.
  3. I see many people still talking about issues with 2016's getting CEL's. Haven't seen any posts with 2017's so far? Anyone with new revisions and a 2017 still having issues?

I can answer #2. Yes, you should use a switch to cut power to the unit when not in use unless you drive your C7 almost every day. Removing and installing the unit many times risks damaging the OBD connection. The Range unit pulls enough power that it will drain your battery. Using a switch allows you to cut power to the unit without removing it from the car. Installation in the car is up to you. I have seen several different techniques.
As far as #3, I have a 2016 and was assured by Range that the latest version will work fine. Time will tell. If it doesn't I plan to return it for a refund.

I heard back from Range Technologies today, they WILL NOT ship to CA.

I'm going to hold tight for a little bit though, sounds like the folks over at Diablo may be close to having a 2017 tuner available and I may invest in that to get a little more bang for the buck.

Find a buddy in another state and have them ship it to him/her.

I can easily get it shipped elsewhere. Just gonna wait and see what Diablo has.

Personally, I am afraid of a tune and the potential for voiding the warranty. Dealers seem to try and find any excuse to deny a warranty claim.
