C7 GS gas nozzle overfill
A few weeks back I pulled into a gas station to fill up my new C7 Grand Sport. I inserted the nozzle all the way inside the tank fill inlet and locked the handle. I went inside the convenience store area for less than the time it would take to fill up the tank. When I came of of the store, to my horror, the gas pump nozzle did not unlock and gas was pouring out of the C7 tank inlet nozzle all over the ground.
Has anyone else experienced this problem or did the gas pump nozzle lock fail to be disengaged when the tank was filled?
Most of the time it seems also that the backpressure of filling the tank shuts off the nozzle lock very easily making it time consuming to fill the tank so it shocked me when the nozzle lock did not disengage.

Both of those problems are caused by faulty gas nozzles, not your car. A lot of fuel stations are very lax about maintaining their pumps properly.

I have never heard of anyone going into the store and leaving the car while it was still filling.
I never trust the nozzle to shut off.. (or to keep filling)

I can't seem to find any pumps in my area that aren't constantly needing adjusting to keep from turning off prematurely. I had the same problem with my C6 GS although not nearly as bad.

I had a diesel pump nozzle jam several years ago and had to shut it off via the pump; a few weeks later I was filling up my car and the gas hose developed a split just above the nozzle spraying fuel everywhere. Hopefully I used up my quota of poorly maintained fuel stations (these were both Shell outlets which are generally nicely maintained but there are exceptions to everything).

There's a few states where it is illegal to not man the pump while it's filling. Been too many mishaps between fire and hazardous material spills. A state or two that won't let you pump your own gas - there are attendants, yeah like the old days. You're lucky. No fire and no hazmat.

Most of the stations around here have removed the locking device to run the pump handle. The only way to get gas is to stand there and squeeze the handle.

In that case, your fuel cap will jam hold open the nozzle. Many ways to get around the system. With the C7 you will have to manufacture a device to hold the nozzle open.

I've never experienced the overflow (lack of shutoff) issue but I frequently experience the nozzle not locking / sealing properly and when I set the lever on the pump to auto-fill (lock the lever/trigger in the 'flow' position), the pump stops after about 5 seconds or less.
I end up having to push the hose in and apply generous pressure and hold it there to pump gas. I've experienced this at both Costco and Chev(y)ron stations. It's about 90% of the time.

Under no circumstances would I ever leave my car unattended while filling it with gas for this specific reason. You can't trust the nozzles.

Last October i watched the same thing happen. The guy pulled up to the pump and started filling his Honda. He used the gas cap to block the nozzle open and went into the store. Well it did not stop filling and gas was all over and going down a storm drain. The police, fire dept and the DEC showed up. In the end he was given tickets and i was told he was responsible to pay for the clean up. There were signs on the pumps not to block the nozzle open.
