I removed mine and sprayed semi gloss clear on it. Looks like yours. Much better than that dulso stuff.

I've been wanting to do the same thing
How did you strip the rubberized stuff and not damage the plastic?
Also what is SEM paint?

Those look really nice. Did you have to fill or sand any scratches before painting?

I've painted a few cars over the years and understand a good prep is key, did you use the sem plastic prep or sem adhesion promoter?

I'm going to be doing this to all the dulso coated areas and am unsure if I should get the adhesion promoter and plastic prep from SEM.

EDIT: just looked into the plastic prep more and it seems to just be a de-greaser so I'm not goin to get that but am still up in the on the adhesion promoter.

Anybody ever try to satin clear over this stuff or just leave the base coat SEM alone.

It would be great to hear from more people who did this. I've been wondering what to do as the rubber coating is just starting to lift where you grab the drivers door to close it. It is the only flaw in my entire interior. I thought about replacing the part but I don't think it is reproduced. Does anyone know why GM went that route rather than just plain old satin black plastic that would look the same and in my opinion feel much better to touch?

I can't say for sure but around the time the C4 came out the Italians were doing similar coatings, so maybe GM was trying to be like them.

On the bright side, there is a guy in Atlanta that re-coats the pieces for Ferrari and Lamborghini. I think he gets around grand a car. Apparently that can be the price for one Ferrari dash piece.

Since were talking console parts, does anyone use those rubber liners for the cup holders? Mine still had them, but if I put anything in them they attach to the can or cup.

I safely removed the Dulso with a strong detergent, like Purple Power or some such degreaser. The radio bezel on my 95 was broken by the PO who tried to force it. I bonded it with Duro plastic weld, sanded ane painted with one of the color match satin black paints from Autozone. No body knows but me.
