This spring, I am planning on doing the L88 IFA headlight conversion to my 78 SA. In doing so, I will be replacing the headlights with modern high intensity bulbs with integrated halo turn signals. So, my question is, since I will be integrating the turn signal into the headlights, what should I do with the space in the front grills? I was thinking either create new front grills that eliminate the space, or turn them into brake cooling ports. I am leaning towards the brake cooling idea. If you all have any other ideas and instructions, I would greatly appreciate it.

I am doing that same type idea build with my 69,
In your case i like the brake cooling idea,
It would flow well where the stock signals would be,
Something i find missing on many such themed builds you might look at is the big old school fog driving lamps,

PIAA makes small, high-intensity, driving lamps that would fit the holes nicely. But your mention of brake cooling ducts indicates you will be racing the car and these might be necessary for such extreme uses.

I think you could do brake cooling ducts and still make new grills.
As "Bats" suggested look at lots of pictures of those old C3 road racers.
You'll see many variations of the brakes ducts, driving lights, and fabricated grills.
Something may catch you eye or give you some new ideas.

Thanks Tim! I am actually not going to race it. Just doing a restomod theme build. thought it would be cool to give a nod to the IFA endurance cars or the 60s and 70s on the outside, but new motor and drive train on the inside. I will check out the driving lamps. This is exactly the ides I needed.

I think I will be adding fog lamps as well, but they won't be old school since I am doing a restomod build. This is more of a nod to the past, but with new tech.
