Default Help identifying engine 1969 vette

I took a photo of the engine markings by the right front bay. The first set of numbers matches my VIN. The second set to the right of that was supposed to identify the plant and engine, right? But when I look it up it doesn't seem to match the codes I looked up. Here's one pic of the numbers I'm talking about.

The vin part of the engine, although not pictured should read 19S7xxxxx(the last 5 of the vin)

Then depending on what engine you have is the other stamp. Without knowing what engine you have makes it difficult to help.

Its apparently a small block. What I see looks correct. The V is the Flint plant. The 08 is August, the 11 is the 11th day and then it will either be HY, HZ, HW or HX depending on what 350 you have. I see an H but I can't see the other letter.

Thanks, that matches. I'll see if I can scrape out the last letter. Should be either HY or HX.

Don't try to scrape the pad anymore. You should be using paint stripper or thinner, to clean the pad. Scraping damages and removes the broach marks and damages the stamping. The pad is already pretty marked up, any more scraping will make it pretty hard to authenticate.

Thanks, I didnt scrape it. It was covered with oil/grime so I sprayed a degreaser on it and wiped it off. I should have said wipe it better to see if the second letter is there. Doesn't look like anything past the H
