Default Heater core remedy

Well, after reading all the posts from pass to present, I discovered that the Best and least expensive way to resolve "factory core VS repro" is to have radiator shop recondition the original core for $25.00 and be done with it. It fits, no muss no fuss and cheaper that an aftermarket.

put some stop leak in it, I just tore my '72 core out again, after some 21 years of being driven often enough, and that old brass thing is not something to be rebuilt....period.....

bought an aluminum replaceemnt that is not as thick, from RockAuto.com and got it for 50 bux.....not finished hooking it up yet, man what a BITCH of a job....been on it for 3 daze now, 4 hours/day is about all I can do anymore.....

I just bypassed mine and never looked back. My car interior runs hot even after applying the heat barrier under the carpet. No heater needed even when I need defrost which is not that often.
Someday I may pull it and I have a good radiator man that says will repair it for me.

Not an actual solution and temporary at best. Better to repair the leak.

For $25 all they would do is fix a small hole, not recondition/recore a corroded core.

Maybe that's all it needs.
