ok, so a guy comes out to look over my Sting Ray. Says it all looks good, him and his wife seem really happy, checking numbers, nooks and crannies, and all sorts of stuff. Looks like he is about to pull the trigger and he says : "can I check the bird cage" , I said "be my guest", he opens the passenger door, looks up near the tags and says "hmm, back east car, it's all rusted out". Shocked, (as he didn't know I have California ownership back to the 60's) I look where he did, I don't see any rust, so I tell him and ask where he seen it. He said he didn't actually see any, but with all the "chromium phosphate" sprayed under the dash, it had to be rusted. So I say the what?, and how do you know, he says the green paint, it's been all redone. I say no, they are all like that but I'm no expert, he says no, none are like that, gets pissed off and leaves, like I'm lying through my teeth.
So check out these pics, I thought this car is pretty cherry under the dash, what do you think, to me, the green is factory. Let me know, thanks!!

As others said, he was looking for a reason not to buy. A knowledgeable buyer would not choose to inspect the birdcage as a LAST item on their agenda.
If you were driving distance to Chicago, I'd already have been there to look and buy myself. Just don't have the time to do a deal across this much distance currently. It will sell fast, and to someone who recognizes it's a solid and very original car.

Another point to add on the "East coast car" comment...the undercarriage looked worse than that after 1-2 winters in the Midwest or Northeast. No way that car has ever been in the Rust Belt.

Selling my 1965 L75 coupe. Beautiful car in very good condition. 2 family owned. This car has spent most or all of its life here in California, as you can see from the integrity of the car. One re-spray in the original color, Milano Maroon, looks fantastic! From what I have checked the car is all numbers matching except the starter. Retains all the original spark shielding, air breather, radiator, no crack steering wheel, no crack dash, original shifter, original glass, very nice door panels, ect… car was parked indoors all its life.
The car has had general maintenance items done, new rear axle bearings, new brakes (calipers, rubber lines, pads), front and rear rubber bushings, rebuilt carburetor and distributor and new mufflers. Old “western” knock off wheels were added over the years, gold lines have good rubber however are old, I just drive it locally. Showing 7xxx on the odometer. The car runs and drives great, everything works, clock works intermittently. Clean and clear California title in my name, black with yellow Ca. plates. If you have an interest, I would be happy to send pictures. Thanks
