Default Recommendations for Drag radials - 6-650hp

Just picked up a clean rear set of T10's in 18x11.5.

Looking to put DR's on it when the time comes and I'll hopefully have between 600-650hp but that's another project. The 2 on my short list is the R888 and the NT01's...

I still need to get the front wheels made to size, not sure if I should go 9.5 or 10" in the front. Suggestions?

Also, you guys that run DR's in back do you match the front or run regular street radials?

Thanks.

Edit to add: Has to be decent in wet conditions, being in FLA rain happens...

While those are max effort street tires, they aren't drag radials.

I'd look into the MT or Hoosiers or at a min the NT05 but the MTs will out hook them for sure.

I think we are in the same boat, and I am also looking at both of those for nest time.I think we are both looking to maintain or enhance handling .

If your focus is mostly drag/dig racing, a DR will be better. I run NTO5s all around and have a set of NTO5R to swap out for gear bashing. They work pretty well and the handling is pretty good if the PSI is up. I have been caught in thee rain with them and could tell no difference in traction

Mine are too big for daily use [305/40/17 I think] if I had it to do over as a spare set Id prob get the mickeys

I dont think running DRs on the front is a good idea.

I'm running twins at about 7psi on a turbo cammed ls6. Should be in the low 600s whp. Im currently running Toyo Proxes tq in 315/35r18. On a warm day I can hook second on the street with these. Wet traction is surprisingly good in these as well. Obviously i can't smash the pedal when its raining, but I don't feel unsafe with them at all. I run R888 on the front of the car.

I was recently searching for the same as you, and I came up with MT ET streets as my choice.

Thanks for all the feedback!

Yea going to be blown later down the road and usually engage in normal to spirited driving, and there a times where I find myself "spirited" driving in Mexico!!

Just want a tire thats not going to crowd plow like a mustang when I push the GO pedal ya know...

I'm running NT01's 315/30/18 on the back, great handling tire plus they hook well and I'm just at 680 at the wheels. But DON'T even think about it in the rain or wet roads. Other then that I'm happy with them

going to a taller tire with a bit more sidewall like 16 or 17 helps

a 15 inch tire can be done with some mods (spindles)

for fronts, consider skinnies

don't run drag radials for "extended mexico" excursions as the can get hot and come apart in nasty ways and leave you with high speed anxiety. Some of us silver state guys saw the drag radials after 20-40 miles act like a bad recap and experience tread separation. Run racing slicks if you want to go to mexico or speed rated at least.

run the tires for the intended purpose and you'll become "an old bold pilot" hopefully

I'm a fan of the CCW classics and run older Toyo RA1 335 18 for handling (will go R888 soon), hoosier A6 for track 315 up front and 335 in back

and hoosier 16 drag radials 40 series tires 26.5 tall) with skinnies up front at the digs.

I just got most of this stuff so I'm happy to do a better job of planting the power this spring. the LSV ZR-1 and the TTix auto zo6 are going to have the right stuff this year.

I'm running a 11.5x18 in the rear,so i'm pretty much limited to certain size tires.

looking at the NT01 in 315/30, seen decent reviews.

I have NTO5R's for my tires. I don't have traction issues anymore for my hp, but once I get up to 700-800 I'd go with MT or Hoosier.

My NT05Rs are useless in 1st and hit or miss in 2nd. I'm on a 305/35/19 though. Once I have a chance I'm jumping to a 17 x 11 CCW classic and plan on running a 305/45/17 ET Street R though, I love dig racing. I just gotta find someone with 17" classics that wants my SP500s lol

if you're in Florida and want a balance with radial and weather, Nitto 555R is the ticket.
I personally have two sets of wheels for Florida weather, really depends how much you drive and the purpose of your car
