Default How old were you when you purchased your first corvette?

I was 16 and with my Dads help I purchased a new 58 Corvette that was totaled with less than 1500 miles on it. Found a rear clip took us almost 9 months to get it back on the road. Started to drive it, could not afford the insurance, had to sell it to pay for my first year of college. Bought my second Corvette when I was 27 ( 62), still have it 49 years later.

Mine was a 61 in 1971 and I was nineteen. Drove it everyday for work and then tear it up on the drag strip every Sunday.

Our first was a '61 when I was in college. We were short of money for my junior year, so we sold it to pay for tuition. We didn't get our second one until we were empty nesters in 1994. We've owned 7 more since then. Our most recent one is a 2017 GS, which we bought two weeks ago, as an early 50th wedding anniversary present.

Bought a stuffed 59' when I was 16 or 17. bent frame, put one piece nose on it and painted it roman red. Not a smart move, worst part sold a cream puff 57 Bel Air convertible to buy the thing. Next one January 1967, a 65 two top 350 horse factory air, red/black 16k miles, goldlines, very smart move.

I am the original owner of my '63 triple black convertible. I was 18 years old when I stared buying it. I paid every dime on it but did need Dad (with Mom's approval) to cosign the loan. I took possession of it on Feb.27, 1963. Current mileage is 548,000. I view our ride as a driven Corvette.

For photos & stories please google: Steve Stone 1963 Corvette

Thanks for the interest and safe driving to all.

Bought my first '67 in 1969 at the age of 24. I had just gotten home from Viet Nam and the money I had in Soldier's Deposit was burning a hole in my pocket. I've had at least one Corvette in the garage most of the time since.

I was 20 when I bought this POS. Kept it for a month and sold it when another guy wanted it worse than I did. Still, I was hooked. Bought a '55 two months later....

This sounds very familiar.
I bought my 67 (400 pg, air convertible) in 1969 when I returned from
NKP Thailand. I was 23 and sold my SS 396 Chevelle to buy the Corvette
at a Dealer near Pittsburgh.

Bought my first one, a '66 roadster, in 1977 from the original owner when I was 19. I drove it everyday that it did not snow. Bought my 2nd, a '61 fuelie, at 21 yrs old. A month later I bought another '61 that had been totally disassembled for a few years. That car was my first restoration. 1981 that car achieved Bloomington Gold and if I wasn't hooked before I was then. And as they say,the rest is history

Two weeks after my 15th birthday in 1970 I bought a '57 basket case. Took about a year and a half to get it on the road. Had my brother's '57 right next to it while I worked on it, so that made it a lot easier.

I was 21 in 1970 when I was transferred to Hickam AFB in Hawaii. I had been driving a '66 SS396 Chevelle on the mainland and wanted something smaller. Bought a '59 Corvette for $800 and sold it two years later for $800 when I was transferred back to the mainland to Travis AFB for my discharge. I've owned 9 other Corvettes since then

I was 56 when I bought the 62 and 63 when I bought a new Grand Sport.
Should have bought a mid year coupe rather than the GS. Not that the GS isn't a great car, in seven year never been to a dealer. Live and learn.
