Default Aftermarket Filter only thread

Nano, Green, AIRAID, etc.

Read in a few threads that several bought aftermarket air filters only for their Z06.

I assume you all received them and put them on...

Would love to hear your thoughts on any difference or if anyone besides 01Defense went to the track (Yes I know he still hasn't posted a time slip).

My Green filter just came in this morning. I'm calling my Dyno guy to see if I can get a before and after.
My car is a 17 M7 , I have a Katech Throttle body and Borla X pipe only.

Stay tuned

I will probably buy an Airaid, have had great luck with them over the years.

That would be huge and at least give us something measured and not just hearsay.

I'm curious as well. There are too many claims that a CAI on these cars doesn't do anything for me to pull the trigger at the moment.

OK, Fresh off the dyno.

I paid for everything so I have no interested in trying to inflate the numbers in any way.

The only I have done to the car is:

1, Katech TB , Made power down low and took away the dead spot right off idle, Made no power up top.

2, Borla X pipe, Made power everywhere. Made 18whp at the top end.

3, Green fliter.

Brought the car to my Dyno guy, It sat for about 20 mins by the time he got it on the dyno, strapped down and got all the wires plugged in.
Water temp was 192 F for the first run.

He changed the filter, re installed.
By the time we did the pull is was at 195F.

See the graph. He did two pulls back to back and it was identical.
I have $239 in the TB, $564 in the X pipe, $92 in the filter and went from 583whp to 608whp

So was the 583whp when it was stock and then 608whp after all the mods, or was that just the increase with the new filter?

My tuner showed me a Graph from a bone stock 2016 M7. It made 574whp on his dyno and with a Haltech is made 611whp. He then showed my on the stock Graph the AF was around 11.8 to 1. With the Haltech is was 14.2 to 1 and dropped to 13.1 up top.

He told me these after market intake cheat by leaning out the AF ,this is because the diameter is larger around the MAF sensor than the factory. By running the car that lean, the engine will knock at lot easier and cause the ecu to pull out lots of timing and thus loose all the power it made.
He advised not to do anything else without a tune, He had some intakes ready for sale but advised me against it unless I would let him add some fuel.

Jim will try to say the dyno is not calibrated for E10 fuel and direct injection can run leaner, etc.... I'm still not comfortable with 13+ A/F under harsh (a/k/a track) conditions so I removed mine as I too was seeing about the same thing with a 2017 lid and x-pipe back exhaust.

Im sorry so there was no gain with the difference in filters? I can't see a whp and tq number on your graph of the 2 of them.

Lastly, do you know if he was measuring boost? Do you know if the filter changed the boost at all? I believe the CAI add basically 1 lb of boost.

NO.

Let me clear this up

Stock = 583whp
TB = 583whp
X pipe= 597whp
Green = 608whp

I can confirm the car is amazing all the time now. The dead spot right off idle is completely gone with the Katech TB. The Car sound amazing and feels strong.

I did a very thorough analysis on a cold air intake and before and after.
in the quarter mile, my car sped up by .22 ET seconds, and 5.3 mph, just by adding a cold air intake and torco.
I also dynod my car before and after, my wheel horsepower went from 518 to 591.
my wheel torque went from 543 to 635.

in my opinion, the cold air intake definitely helps drastically on these vehicles
