Default Any C7 owners buy acrylic blackout kit 4 side markers + rear reflectors (pics inside)

There is a seller on the bay that is selling a set of acrylic blackout kit + rear reflectors... wondering if anyone has experience with this on their C7 and how it came?

Pics below and instructions say:

The red and amber lenses on your C7 Corvette are not the most appealing to some. Now we have a solution to cover them with acrylic blackouts. Installation of these covers is simple, just peel and stick with the clear VHB tape on the back. Made with premium transparent smoked acrylic with a perfect cutout for easy fitment on each of the lenses. Each set contains 4 curved blackout lenses for the side markers and 2 blackout lenses for the rear reflectors.

Sold in a complete set of 4 side markers and 2 reverse reflector blackouts.

They sell for around $55 dollars shipped... so it seemed like a good deal to get them darker considering there are kits that costs a couple hundred dollars.

Don't buy the acrylic ones. They are thick and stick out. Get the cheaper vinyl ones, several vendors sell them. Here's RPI's kit:

https://www.rpidesigns.com/shop/item.aspx?itemid=3165

They offer a forum discount too. If you find one of the threads they've started, the code is in their signature.

You mean by the acrylic ones aka vinyl. The lamin-x ones are the 12mm thicker ones. Is that right?

Another vendor calls the lower end ones vinyl and thicker ones acrylic:

The lamin-x ones are good, but their kit is messed up. You have to buy two kits to cover all four curved side markers. I tried to tell them that, but they weren't responsive.

The acrylic are thick, the vinyl is just tint pre cut. Vettefx sells a kit and so does southern car parts. I wouldn't buy anything from corvette mods, they burned me once and had their vendor sponsorship pulled from this site from burning a bunch of other people too.

I think Lamin-x will be good as they are also darker. Can you explain what you mean their kit is messed up and need to buy 2 kits to cover all 4 side markers? Aren't they pre-cut so they go right on and over for a good fit?

Appreciate you helping as you seem to have gone down this route before.

I have the lamin-x gunsmoke on my car, I really like their products. When you order the c7 kit, for some reason it only includes two curved tints and two straight ones. So you end up two curved tints short. Maybe you'll have better luck contacting them if you order. I dunno, I ordered a while ago, maybe they fixed it.

Vette Stripes (not sure if they are a vendor) looks like high quality lamin-x that they cut and they sell tons of vette wrapping items, etc.

Looks like I am going to go with them. I will update this thread. My car is not even built yet haha. I am at 3000 code.

I bought a set of these off EBay and I am extremely happy with how they came out . They are pre cut, but you will have to do slight trimming. Super easy to install, just follow the directions.

I did the sides on mine only... I don't like messing with the rear, we have enough stupid on the road so any extra they can see helps. Silly I know.

Curious how deminished the light becomes going through either the vinyl or the acrylic overlays since every pic I have seen only have daylight pics.

It may look cool during the day but I rather have brighter side markers at night.

Maybe someone who has installed either type can chime in.

Almost zero at night on the side markers, the light shines through. I say almost zero as it's on there so it has "some" effect to be fair.

Uh. I find it hard to believe putting dark material over a light has "almost zero" affect. On the surface I would think it would reduce the effective light by 50% especially since they are not high intensity LED bulbs.

I have my sides done and at night with the lights on you would never know they were tinted. Light comes thru perfectly.

How can determine it will reduce it by 50% AND have no experience with it?! I've had it on 3 cars and as stated almost zero. When the lights are on it shines no problem. But to your point it does reduce it some % but not a ridiculous claimed 50%... Buy it and use it if you like the look.
