3 slow horn honks when cutting off car
Yesterday while running errands, I cut off the car and got 3 slow hunks of the horn (about 1 to 2 seconds apart). This is not the 3 rapid hunks when you close the doors with the keys still in the car. I made 2 stops and it happened each time. When I made the 3rd stop, it did not happen, but when I returned to the car, the door did not unlock/open. I shook the key fob and it opened.
I have heard people post that they have gotten the 3 hunks before when shutting down the car, and I have had this happen as well, but it was 3 rapid hunks, not slow hunks.
This is the first time the slow hunks has happen. 2017 GS with 4800 miles, automatic.
Any ideas?

I have mine set to autolock and it will not autolock with the fob in the car. I keep the fob in the cup holder when I park it in the basement. I get the three honks of the horn but it never autolocks. When I go somewhere ,if I forget to take the fob with me when I park away from home, the three honks remind me that I left the fob in the car.

If you have one fob in the car, and leave it inside, it should not lock, IF IT RECOGNIZES THAT THERE IS A FOB IN THE CAR. Every car has a "map" of where it will "see" a fob, and every car is different, BTW. It would be worth your time to experiment to see where you can put your fob inside the car and see it recognized. Use only one fob with the windows open to retrieve the fob. This map shrinks as the fob battery ages.
If there are two fobs in the car and one leaves, it will lock the other fob in the car.

It's not supposed to! Caveat to follow:

I had my FOB in my tennis bag, threw it in the 'trunk' of my coupe, slammed the hatch...it autolocked....

I really dislike the auto-lock feature on any vehicle and always leave it disabled. I only want it locking when I command it to. When I get to the point where I can't remember to lock my car when I leave it, I shouldn't be driving at all.

Its just convenient if you like to leave your key in your briefcase / bag.

That is pretty funny. What happened is this.
Watch when someone parks near you. When they get out and close the door they generally walk away and click the lock button. That is when you start giving short honks. Fun to watch them fiddle around with their key fob.

What's even more fun, although verging on mean, is if your car is parallel parked, and you are somewhere you can see it (at a restaurant or wherever); when someone is parking or leaving the spot next to you, you press lock, and then again faster, but only when they are moving in the direction of your car. No horn beep when they are moving away from the car, and then press lock (progressively faster) as they again move in the direction of your car, and repeat.
The car is exotic enough that, when done properly, people assume the car is protecting itself.
I AM A HORRIBLE PERSON!
